No, it didn't matter, after regulation ended in a tie. That point made it impossible for The Blues to finish ahead of The Wild, as they own the 1st tiebreaker over The Blues.
And that's why I said that.

I'm very glad that The Blues won and will be in The Playoffs. But, I'm disappointed that The Wild didn't lose, so that The Blues could play The Golden Knights (who I think would be a slightly easier match for The Blues), and not The Jets, who are my hometown, and 2nd favourite team. Now, one of my 2 favourite teams will be out of The Playoffs after the first Round. I hope Thomas will be able to play, unimpaired, in The 1st Game, and Holloway will be able to return some time during that series.

Utah, Columbus, Detroit, Buffalo, San Jose, Anaheim, Philadelphia all sitting outside looking in after years of futility.

This team is good and we are going to stay good. If we were completely healthy I'd say we would have a legitimate shot to get to the final four.
Chicago, too. And for Utah, that was crappy ownership not wanting to spend money when they were in Arizona. If I remember correctly, they traded for Pronger at the end of his career so they could reach the salary cap floor but he never played a game for them. He finished his career on LTIR for his concussion issues. They weren't trying to rebuild, they were trying to not spend money and have an NHL team.

Yes, Chicago. I think they are years away from competitiveness yet.

Once a teams gets into that rebuild death spiral it is really hard to get out of.

Not to over simplify it but the key to a rebuild and retool that the Blues have done better than these teams is 1. Hitting on your draft picks and 2. having quality goaltending

But top three draft picks!!!

You're right. We've done a pretty damn good job of drafting. Too often you see these teams have a great top pick and the rest of their draft is garbage. You cannot build a team with just one pick a season, no matter how good that pick is. We've made second rounders into all stars all the way down to a seventh rounder into a regular d-man.

Armstrong has made some shrewd trades and some good to not so good free agent signings buy he's never rested on his laurels.

Our front office and hockey ops is a good as any in the League.

Yeah, I don’t even want Steen now. Army’s way wins in this era of cap management. He literally has kicked ass in this league. He has a knack of employing the right people to run his operation. When you got all levels of management working, over time you can’t lose.

He’s going to outdo what Doug Wilson did in San Jose. He had about a 15 year run of excellence. Army will surpass that. He’s got the Blues in a great place right now. His patience and timely stealth moves have been impressive.

In my mind, he's GM of the Year. He made some really gutsy moves and some really hard choices and it paid off.

I mean, Army isn’t going anywhere. He signed a three year extension. Sure Steen will be GM but he’ll still be reporting to Armstrong.
