Re: Stars vs. Blues, 6PM, Jan 25, 2025
26This game is still winnable, but the Blues need to skate… Dallas should be tired in the 3rd.
Schenn… high stick.. yeah, he did it.Robb_K wrote: Sat Jan 25, 2025 8:15 pm Blues have to kill off another penalty, to stay in this game.
To lose to a tired Dallas team like this is really disappointing.
Clearly, Blues' management think Dvorsky is NOT physically ready to play centre in The NHL, otherwise they'd have brought him up. They must think it would be risky to try to play him in The NHL now. He needs to add muscle bulk and strength, and, perhaps need to learn more of how to play defence, as well. I trust the Blues' coaching staff, who watch him every day to make that determination, rather than my own uneducated guesses or wishes.BluesSK wrote: Sat Jan 25, 2025 9:51 pmTo lose to a tired Dallas team like this is really disappointing.
Our special teams are absolutely awful. Change needs to happen.
We need some kind of a shake-up. It's uninspired hockey. And we desperately need a center. I think they should call up Dvorsky.
I’ve never understood why it’s such a common thing in hockey. Obviously you want to change things up that aren’t working but if you’re constantly doing it how do you even know what will work and won’t.Turk Sanderson wrote: Sat Jan 25, 2025 11:49 pm When Chief was most successful after taking over from Hitch, he set the lines and let them find sustained chemistry… it worked. This shuffling doesn’t create any continuity… timing is a step off, and confusion is everywhere. This ain’t rocket science.
Berube was playing endless musical chairs with the lines before he was canned too. It's a terrible coaching habit.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Sun Jan 26, 2025 8:38 pmI’ve never understood why it’s such a common thing in hockey. The only positive to this team being stuck in neutral is hopefully Army won’t be tempted to give up assets for a small chance at a playoff spot.
Curious what we have as far as sellable trade deadline pieces. Maybe Suter? Not sure Faksa nets you anything. Saad but that seems more like a salary dump type move. Sunny has zero value as injuries have done in his career.BluesSK wrote: Mon Jan 27, 2025 12:05 amBerube was playing endless musical chairs with the lines before he was canned too. I think there was hope after the Calgary sweep but that opportunity is toast now. I think we should be sellers and start focusing on next season. It's time to get some assets sold who aren't in the future plans and get some kids up here to see what we got.
And we need a special teams coach. That's a priority.
The Blues are 25th in PP% and 28th in PK%. If they netted out to around league average I'm willing to bet they wouldn't be 5 points out of the last wild card spot.BluesSK wrote: Mon Jan 27, 2025 12:05 amBerube was playing endless musical chairs with the lines before he was canned too. Both go back to the defense for me. No true PP QB and no true shut down pairing on D.Dave's a mess wrote: Mon Jan 27, 2025 8:29 amThe Blues are 25th in PP% and 28th in PK%. Kind of a bummer that Perunovich didn't pop when he got his shot. For all the frustrating line juggling, I'm glad they gave him a decent amount of run on PP1. I hope Colin Ralph is able to develop into a viable NHL player, because he seems made for the PK.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Mon Jan 27, 2025 9:01 amBoth go back to the defense for me. In good news, Jiricek has looked pretty decent since joining Brantford.Dave's a mess wrote: Mon Jan 27, 2025 10:32 amKind of a bummer that Perunovich didn't pop when he got his shot.
