First game back from a long road trip is always an adventure.
Page number: 2
Thx. Here's where the losing streak ends.
Line rushes according to Ken Wiebe at this mornings skate. Who is the 3rd pairing is up for debate though
Not if Logan Stanley got out of bed this morning...
Nice to see Lambert up rather than Kupari
What did Colin Miller do to be taken out???
Well, that is certainly an interesting change to the top 6. I'm really curious to see how it goes if they run with those lines tonight.
Oh man this is exciting. That top line needed a boost and that second line looks gooooood.
I really hope they don't make Stanley play his offside, he can't even play his onside
EDIT: I see it's Heinola playing his offside. I don't like that either - like it's the kids 3rd game in over a year, give him a legit shot. Plus being anchored with Stanley?
I am going to go out on a limb and say Coghlin/Miller start.
f*** the losing streak. It can blow goats. Get it over with. f*** the Wild and everyone else in the Central. Buncha assholes. f***.
I'm a bit amped right now. Need more coffee.
Very interesting. Looking forward to seeing how Lambert does with Cole and Gabe. Wonder if this means Ehlers is out longer term. Wouldn't they need to put him on IR for Lambert to be back up?
No clue what they will do for the third pairing.
retro to friday so he could be back for the blackhawks game
Thanks for the advice and sympathy I got last night, both public and private. I'm a bit embarrassed by what I shared but the reactions were sweet and very sensible. I've saved them and will read them again a few times when I'm down in the dumps.
"the dumps" = when you're discussing "Great Expectations" and one student is disappointed to learn that Pip is not a hobbit.
I've noticed a few times that the Jets place someone on the injury list, then a few days later they announce that the list assignment is retroactive to a certain date. I assume there's some sort of advantage to this? If you go out with an injury, do you have to stay out for a set number of days or games? I'd always thought that when you sat out with an injury you stayed out until it healed, but perhaps there's more complicated rules involved here.
A brief explanation using Ehlers as an example would be great.
Stanley still in the lineup with Miller holding the drop? Or both Stan/Heinola out with Coghlan-Miller as the 3rd pair?
Looks like it's Stanley-Heinola on the 3rd pairing. I'm not expecting good things.
Well that third pairing is interesting to say the least.
AHL Lambert...hope he does better in the NHL than AHL
Tiny Heiny needs to play, Jets need to find out one way or another if he is NHL capable, we know Stanley isn't!
I'm not sure interesting is the word we'll be using once the game starts. Seems like a good time to remind everyone to not bypass the profanity filters.
Page number: 3
And in other news, the windows of the staff cafeteria just went totally white. It turns out that having temperatures mostly in the +2 to -2 range means you get an incredible amount of snow squalls here.
I've got my paws crossed for tonight. We need to nip this losing streak.
Trial by fire for Heinola.
"we want to assess your ability to play in the NHL so we are pairing you with someone who shouldn't be in the NHL"
Man, throwing heinola in on his offside and benching a solid vet - didnt arniel just say we needed millers hard shot on the power play - like last game?
Chevy or chipman had to be the ones making the call on trading up for stan... this is truly baffling. Count on our top 4 playing 24-26 minutes each...
Really cheering for lambert... give him a run of games and dont shelter that line - bit scary to think an injured scheif will now likely be called upon for 22mins or more
"You'll never make it kid unless you can babysit Logan while playing your offside"
While playing on your off hand. Something even Samberg failed to do with Stan on the 3rd pairing. Atleast try to put the guy in a position to succeed.
My excitement for brad is masking my bitterness for the 3rd d pair.
I almost hope it turns out to be a disaster
Well that lineup certainly gives one something to focus on more than just the state of the game. Lots to chew on.
I've been so entrenched at our prospects being plunked in on the 4th line to start I'm not even sure what to think about Lambert on the 2nd. It's kind of wild.
As for the third pair of Ville and Stan: won't that be....interesting.
Yep, interesting is a word.
My dad used to say interesting doesn't mean I like it or its good: "Monkey Puzzle trees are interesting, I think they are ugly and look stupid, but they sure are interesting!"
I'd like to believe that Miller is banged up, but I've lost faith in 3rd pair Dman decision making around here
This is the same stubborn management group that kept the NHL's worst starter in goal here for 5 seasons.
Page number: 4
You know things are in danger of going off the rails if you and me are starting to agree...
The thing that blows my mind is moving Names to 1C - while niedereitter has been solid when playing C and could easily fill the crash the net requirement for that kfc-scheif pairing
Hope this works - im still optimistic for the game tonight but ill have extra beers on hand
Always good to have a plan!
Really hoping they win. But if they don't, I'm avoiding the PGT. This place will be ug-ly!
Page number: 5
Big Bad Brad with the dream debut and gamewinner.
Hear our prayers, Ye Hockey Gods!
what's the over under on Stanley pims in the 1st?
Well I am going to hope that our 3rd pair hangs in tonight
I don't love two lefties but my guess is Miller is banged up and this is what it looks like when we lose two of our starting top 6 D men and we have to dress #6, #7, and #8
GJG
I like the make-up of their line, Lambert with the speed, Perfetti with the play making ability and Vilardi with the hands.
With Laine playing tonight for Montreal i would guess he might turn up on their thread.
Third pair should be interesting -
But more interested in seeing Lambert dress - hope he has a great game.
The logan stanley spin in the media is impressive... everyone is taking it super easy on him
Why not. Logan Stanley isn't the problem.
Might be scary with Chevy's mistakes paired together!
How did we miss out on tomas bjornfot
Speed, play-making, and hands. Now all we need is some goals!
Can someone explain why Miller isn't our regular 5/6 defenseman?
Page number: 6
Just want to beat the dead horse and throw out the obligatory, how the f*** is Stanley in the line up after being a tire fire(again) and taking 3 minors against Dallas.
"We know you haven't played much hockey in the last while Ville so we need you to go out there and carry Logan tonight. Good luck!"
Ooo00ohh
My cat go up and looked at me when she hit that note.... and I don't even have a cat.
That little guy looks like he is going to cry listening to Stacey Mattress
Page number: 7
I have to mute anytime Natress sings, her voice is like nails on a chalk board!!!
She sounds like a vacuum cleaner.
An hoover
So Vladdy on the top line, interesting
Damn. Was hoping to witness a Binnington Breakdown.
From the bench?
Jets have a little more quicks to start the game
Blues playing a passive forecheck is good news for the Jets.
Nice sequence from Heinola there
Brad Lambert is a mouth breather, lots of speed
Brad Lambert either becomes a real good player or James Wright
I was about to say that it was good to see Lambert out there... and then he goes offsides TWICE
C'mon granny...I'm sure you've needed a little oxygen from time to time
Won a faceoff. Woot!
That would of been some goal
Love Lamberts speed
Hofer having some difficulties with the puck
Hofer went to the Arturs Irbe School of Puckhandling.
Ya it's not a hay bale
Seems like everyone's having some difficulties with the puck. Bouncing everywhere.
Page number: 8
A shoutout to the NYR for Barron & Lambert.
Roof it and it's 1-0
next goal wins
Dang! You are kinda correct though And thorough.
Heater of a pass and a bit behind him. Surprised he got that much on it. Still a heck of a save.
At least he didn't join Janis, Jimi, Kurt, and the rest of the 27 club
/scraping for positives
All things considered, both lambert and Heinola look pretty good.
This second line looks good. Maybe they'll consider putting nik on the first line when he gets back
Damn this PLV line looks pretty sick so far. Early and blues aren't great but they already seem to have wayyy more chemistry than ENP
Sawyer likes the non call. Lol
I actually think Ehlers and Perfetti don't fit all that well together honestly.
Stanley...
Fire wagon hockey...
Har...
lol Stanley is so terrible. Loses the puck just skating
Yup kinda butchered that rush
Good work in defensive zone by Kupari. Actually looks decent as a fourth center?
Just imagine the Logan Stanley long term extension
Nah, Connor's the Keith Richards and Ozzy Osbourne of hockey; indestructible.
Stan loses the puck just skating all by himself
Page number: 9
Hofer gives big rebounds.... hopefully Jets player will be there for a juicy goal
I like that Cole is looking to drive the line. He defers to much to Ehlers when playing with him.
Vilardi brings the size and board work and Lambert brings speed and skill. Possibly a real nicely balanced line.
vilardi or nino no doubt will eat one of those up
Why are there so many TV commercials with door bells on TSN? My cats go into attack mode every commercial break when they hear it..
He's Brandon Tanev minus the flow and crazy mugshot.
Perfetti is poised beyond his years in his end. Great d play and then the poise to make the correct read and the puck is out. It's why I think he can be a center in this league.
Nothing wrong with that hit on Fleury, gotta be aware out there
I have a theory that all Canadian commercials are written by one person.
First time we've outshot a team in the 1st period since.. uhh..
Ok. Decent period
Good road period.
Weird to put Perfetti and Vilardi on the same line immediately after they were both featured on the league's slowest forwards list.
Weird when Helle is the best puck handling goalie on the ice.
Lambert actually seems to belong in the NHL. Will be exciting to follow if him and Perfetti can have some chemistry. Perhaps he already takes a spot this year. Who knows...
At least they are now playing with guys at the same speed
Lambert looks like he could be Arniel's kid, the resemblance is uncanny
A little good a little bad in the first, make Hofer handle the puck
Man if we could run Connor Scheif Ehlers without feeling like we were consolidating all the talent on the top line that would be pretty sweet.
Yes, plus there is only one or two agencies doing all the ads for Canadas major corporations (all ten of them)
Lambert looks pretty good out there.
Page number: 10
And run a goalie
Lambo looks great. Speed is unreal. Heinola looks good. Fleury is playing well, great shot pass.
Stanley is really struggling. Trying to do too much.
Sara Orlesky is so terrible
booooo
Now Button is stealing his neighbour's Christmas decorations
Probably Arniel is thinking really hard what he was doing in 2003...
A quick check and The Keg is part of that group run by Recipe Unlimited
Very tentative period by both teams. So this feels like a game where the team with the least mistakes will win.
Ok let's get a goal or two preferably by the Jets
I don't think Connor will ever score again.
I'm in FL streaming
Preferably not into their own net, either!
Let's not pass it to the guy with no stick
He will score a lot
Whole team is in a place
Heinola will never get taller but he needs to get stronger and use leverage to his advantage
Page number: 11
At least the "I love the way you mangia that meatbaw" commercial died
Nice play by Fluery
Grinch avy always on point this time of year
Maybe Stanley can teach him to be taller?
Logan Stanley's parents must have been Marvel comic fans.
(Logan Stan Lee)
Wow, great save by Fleury and the follow up save by Hellebuyck was also excellent but never mentioned.
Scrambly play to start the second
It's like they're trying not to score it so bad
Ya got admire any good mangia meatballers
9 shots - yawn
Hope they pick up the pace and connect on a few of those plays they are trying to make.
Jet's are not playing loose - need to score a couple of goals to get their mojo back
Not a great start to the period.
Hofer has made some nice saves when he's not butchering playing the puck
Where's 55 get the black eye from?
Helle also making some great saves
Dumb flip there Dumbmelo
Heinola didn't look too small or weak taking the much larger Torpochenko into the boards there.
lol barron
the one place you don't want to swat that puck
Yeah but he's pretty short
Heinola Lambert and Stan are not any problems today, rest of Jets...
Morrissey has been decidedly mid most of this season
Blues move the puck quickly on the PP
Pionk cleaned house nice
Page number: 12
Yeah he's been pretty good despite losing snerg
A PP that's humming along at 15.8%. Maybe they switched something up with Monty at the helm.
Stanley makes the wrong play way too often when he has the puck in the defensive zone.
Names is overmatched on line 1
Yeah -
Ville's a Bruiser and Stan a loser -
Am I doing it right?
More game Heinola plays the better, he'll figure it out
Heinola is the real deterrent.
PP goal incoming
Need to switch the momentum on this pp. Just way off of it this period.
Ok, chicken neck, do something
What is puck management anyways?
Powerkill part deux.
Curse you!!!
Jinx
We're still playing like hot ass.
Lots of passes nothing much else
Brutal PP
I miss Ehlers already
Second unit is usually good at simple low to high shots with traffic. None of that to be found
Jets had problems gaining the zone for the better part of that PP
KFC is holding his stick too hard..... fanning alot of shots
I was going to say I liked how the flow of the game was going in the first period, but then the Jets only had 2 shots in the 2nd. What a pathetic effort. Come the f*** on, guys.
can both teams lose?
Page number: 13
Why we no shoot?
I must be tired, I read that as Heinola is the real detergent
He can be both.
Whole lotta nothin' going on with the Jets in the 2nd. I realize that they're tired but the effort being put forth is sad. Hope I'm wrong but not getting a warm feeling about this one.
Let's try to take a shot on this PP.
Okay, this time it will work
I'd love to see the Lowry line win this game - they play the same way and bring the same effort every night
These Jets stink right now
Ha yeah that's an easy call Vilardi.
Up to 3 shots in second period!
Has Vladdy won a face off yet?
If nothing else, some of the posts have been funny tonight
Kyrou seems to burn us a lot
Super soft backcheck by scheif
Jet scoring has dried up
The pass selections this game have been atrocious.
He's 50% tonight. Best on the team.
No rush Mark, take your time.
Page number: 14
Now the D falls apart
I had it on good authority that once we were done this grueling road trip and back home, things would be better.
It's the same old lazy, soft bullshit.
Ruh-roh.
And bad pionk is back
Ok, f*** you, Jets. This is an unacceptable level of performance. f***ing trash ass garbage play.
Stan just has no idea where to be
From pp to stupid penalty, 4 on 4 to down 2. Woof
The amount of times I've heard "Stanley...gives it away" in the defensive zone has been nuts.
Every team they face these days is capable of playing a suffocating style for 60 minutes.
When was the last time the Jets outshot an opponent? Seriously.
Oh lord, now I'm thinking like more than one of youse guys
We need to get some shots on net than 11 in two periods.
Lambert is going to realize that plays happen a lot faster in the NHL
You're all washed up...
3 shots in the period. Give up 2 goals. Pathetic. Fake ass tough guy Stanley. "Developing mode", Kevin Sawyer? He was drafted with Laine. f***ing Laine.
The only thing that's surprising about tonight is the fact that people find this surprising. We've been playing like this for two weeks now, if not three. No, it's not the road trip or flying in charter jets. We just are uninspired hot shit.
are we on the pk?
Easy money on a big Jets losing streak now
Bench Stanley forever.
Page number: 15
Yeah I'm not bothering to watch the third.
2 f***ing shots in the second? f*** off.
Pretty sad
These guys were 15 - 1, right? What the heck has happened here.
4 shots in the second period, 11 shots through 2, geez wonder why they don't score!
And it's not like they didn't have opportunity. They are just trying to be too cute. Get to net and shoot the damn puck.
I think we win still.
thatd be cool
no, it was actually when they get some rest... do you think 1 day off at home was going to be rest?
#1 rule when your scoring dries up: shoot every puck on the net.
You sure you got the right guy -
He wasn't on for either goal - and there were mistakes made on both of those
2nd line isn't working at all.
Wow WE SUCKAGE
Record for fewest shots?
Jets need to come out with intensity and shots on net, also change up the lines
Oh. We're still tired. My bad.
Lambert hasn't really stood out to me offensively. Heinola for all his vaunted puck moving or offense hat ppl cream their pants about has done what this game?
Also had a good lol Sawyer saying we're still in development mode in regards to Stanley
Well, neither the second nor the fourth was on ice when the opponents scored...
Always an excuse for the Jets, has been since 2011!
I missed it, did he get to play PP? Oh, or has he also been injured very long? Chill.
no shit were still tired, where did you see the jets getting rest? what changed, we got 1 day off then played again..
Some positive news:
Laine scores in his first game back
It is looking good. Jets are awful tonight
Page number: 16
Getting lots of rest tonight
First game back after a long trip is always a bit of a challenge, if that's an excuse so be it.
Imagine jumping on Heinola. He's played far less than anyone else. And hasn't been on ice when the Blues have scored... Find a new one to complain about bud.
Time for Arniel to show some balls and pull Scheifele out of the lineup.
There's playing through injury and then there's being selfish and hurting your team.
It has been a long long time and losing almost every faceoff
we need actual rest, were not going to recover playing every other day with travel
No line was, both were 4v4.
I am so tired of 55 and 81 taking extra long shifts . Two times that period Vlad changed and Lambert came on and 55 and 81 stayed on for another 30 secs. On the 4 on 4 goal against 55 and 7 stayed on so long they had no energy to back check or play d before the Blues scored. They are aren't scoring for the last 6 games, they are getting scored on like crazy and still trying to play 20+ minutes a night.
I get that 55 wants to play, but I feel like that's not his decision to make. What does Arniel get paid for?
3 shots in the whole period that had 2 PP for them? Against one of the shittiest team in the league? f*** off. I am not watching the 3rd live, will watch at 1.5x 10 mins before the game ends.
Only thing worse than these Jets now is Sawyer!
Okay but he was mentioning Lambert and Heinola. Neither has been on ice when Blues scored. Simple.
ok when the jets do turn this around I hope I don't see you jumping back on the bandwagon
If Lambert/Heinola were in the spots that Scheifele/Pionk were on the two goals, they'd be shot into the sun by now.
yeah, I don't understand how people thought that since we were at home that would count as rest... we had 1 day off and now go back on the road
Page number: 17
So we suck again.
I blame the Bombers choke job in the Grey Cup.
Sad that next game is a MUST WIN against the friggin Sabres.
Button not impressed with Pionk on the second goal. Defending the boards lol
Don't forget Stanley - he's be shot into another universe
They gotta give them sleeping pills on the next flight so they aren't so tired
2 pp? we had 1 faceoff on the 2nd powerplay, 4 seconds..
Yeah, 20 something guys playing. 20 minutes of hockey every 2 days is extremely tiring!
And here I in my 20's working 10 hour days, still going to the gym, still playing sports and then the bar until 1:00 AM and still getting up at 6:30 AM!
Playing every second night means little to no practice time, especially with some of the guys hurting or out
The deep dark hole of a losing streak is a downer as much as a winning streak is uplifting.
Speaking of tired, I'm surprised I'm still awake...
Just tell your boss that you can not be productive working 5 days in a row
Getting tired of all this "they're tired BS, it's like the Jets are the only team that travels FFS!
With your stamina, skill and extreme knowledge of the game, it really is amazing you didn't play pro sports yourself. You sound like quite the human specimen the way you describe it.
damn back to connor scheif vilardi
So not that this board is manic depressive or anything
Still think we aren't all the way down but we will get out of this eventually
The 2nd line all have an xGF of 0.02.
Page number: 18
I had more than 11 shots at the bar on Friday nights in my prime
Pionk, zero finesse with his shot...
Stan has been awful. The other 2 are good
That tough schedule didn't by any chance have an affect on your positive outlook on life did it Sip?
Stans been stan, Jets are aweful
I guess the playoffs would be way to tiring for this team to ever win the Cup or even a series
I'd like to see Kupari center that 2nd line.
2019, 2023 called for you...
#81, #55 and #13 going to have double shifts in 3rd period
Lots of good team losing on the scoreboard tonight, including the Jets who still have time to pull this one out
Hofer with the home town
SHUT OUT
Jets being out hustled and outplayed.
Page number: 19
I am tired watching this
If it's rustling your jimmies, just use the ignore feature. Then you can live in a utopia of only positive Jets fans!
It really is a long season
I do think we aren't that close to climbing out but eventually we will
Ok maybe not going to win
New coach Bump is real
Come on, they're tired!
Nice Jinx there Busty
Our spring slump is early this year. Not sure what to think of this team, but right now it isn't good.
and now two games on the road.....that will be tiring
Based on the broken plays, missed assignments, and missed passes, I'd say it has more to do with a scrambled lineup trying to figure out how to play together. Probably a bit tired too.
OhOH, another goal - this sucks
Awful
Just letting them go straight to the slot.
Good thing our shut down line was out for that one.
Apparently the Jets suck now?
Our D play is a hot mess, curse you Samberg
Ok I've had enough watching... I'm being a poor sport but I would rather finish my Christmas baking... good night
You'll think if they were simply tired then they would simplify their game and just get lots of shots on net and get bodies there. But they insist on playing a track meet game and looking for pretty passes.
I think a coach should see the condition of the team change their strategy.
Page number: 20
Well, also St.Louis is the younger team, so that should be expected. 28yrs to 28.9yrs.
Watching this brand of hockey.....is, uh....tiring
It probably will, but why should it? they have been awful for the last 7 games.
Well at least we have banked points
The after All Star break slump, in December... I'll take it.
You insinuating the Jets are a good team LOL!
Ville - 2 minutes for mugging
Well, we will win a game, or at least score a goal again at some point. Won't be tonight.
Rasmus should have shot there.
Lowry's speed is so underrated.
All those poor people who paid money to watch this absolute travesty!
Again!
All the momentum from that incredible start to the season is being thrown away. Same ol same ol with this team...
Lowry on scores on breakaways shorthanded.
14 shots through 2 1/2 periods is F'n pathetic
The Jets should have played the whole game shorthand
We had more chances on that penalty kill than we've had since the second period
They are tired
All the flying
I said I wasn't worried yet the other day. I'm getting worried.
Yeah but first class is very tiring!
Page number: 21
I guess a lot of HF folks are hoping to pull the goalie?
The way I see it, if this is just the team being tired, then we won't go anywhere in the playoffs because THATS tiring. You have to be able to dig deep and play through it. Maybe adapt your game.
So I guess St. Louis passive system game plan didn't benefit the Jets
Think about the benefits of banking the points early, should be able to weather the storm and Cheveldayoff becomes mortal again
Poor disappointed children
They are slumping. Every team slumps, I'd rather get it done with now and overcome the adversity prior to the second half.
Maybe that is a curse of the early hot streak; we didn't have to adapt our game.
Shouldn't it be, I don't see any positives here with this game, although tiny hasn't looked bad!
Being tired during a stretch from hell in the schedule has nothing to do with positivity.
Its physiology
If they would of only played Binninigton
Before the season many opined the Jets were a bubble team. Then the amazing start- best offense, best defense, best powerplay - deceived us into believing.
This team still lacks the killer instinct and wilts under pressure.
Slumps are just teams slumping during a slump.
Every team slumps in a time of slumping, that's why they are called slumps.
Continually being in a slump is slumping
We should have banked more points at this rate.
That shift was the best they've looked all game.
Honestly I don't think the Jets have even played that poorly tonight.
And there's 1!
Page number: 22
Here we go. We got this.
No SHUT OUT for you Hofer
I told you we're going to win.
Sit Schief someone said, we could sure use slow Gus and his 1 goal every 100 games!
Ha take that Hofer. You know if you put some capital letters to that name, he's a Hall Of Famer
I for one am fine with just giving away games and points. For me its all about guaranteeing we keep "big" Logan Stanley in the lineup.
Nice that there is no shutout.
But WHY is the top line playing almost 50% more than the 2nd and 3rd lines? What happened to the balanced lines?
Well the happiness of Fefe's goal didn't last long
Scored a goal and went back to sleep
Careful. The Stanley booster club won't like that comment.
Disgusting, but totally predictable. Unfortunately, this is the real Winnipeg Jets after a fluky start.
Showing some life here
I can't tell if you're serious.
Juat to be clear... you're saying workload and travel doesn't affect NHL hockey players?
That's your position?
Blues win the battle of the 2 soon to be 4th place teams!
Sounds like Scheifele didn't make the cut for 4 Nations
When down in games the top line will play more.
They have been playing more a lot lately and the results are not there.
To make the night more complete the Wild win in OT
On one half of the scale you have line 1. On the other half you have lines 2 and 3. That's Jet-style balance.
Page number: 23
it's the 11th game in a row playing every other day with travel from coast to coast and back, not every team goes thru a stretch like this another poster claimed this a few games ago and I went thru the entire central division and seen no such stretch..
I'm curious as to what you attribute their poor play to, if not fatigue. Did they just decide to all be lazy at same time together?
And it's not just air travel. It's the amount of games, late nights, and lack of rest
That fact that you DON'T think that would affect a team is what's astonishing to me. It makes me think you have no understanding or experience with any level of athletics, or even cognitive performance whatsoever (let alone basic physiology)
Its probably not the ONLY factor, but to pretend it's not affecting the team is just plain stupid
They've been bad lately, but they aren't awful. They've had 2 awful games, and a couple bad ones. Let's not get hysterical
