Yeah I think they're probably done for now. I saw somebody float the idea of Bortuzzo, but I don't know why they'd really do that. He wouldn't bring much in, he seems to be popular in the room and among fans, and he's been the only defenseman on the roster at the beginning of the year that hasn't been a disappointment. Unless they want to call up a guy like Matt Kessel and give him a look, I don't know why you make that trade.

Greiss is a UFA and Hofer is already signed to a 1 way deal to take his backup job next year, but I don't know who's left that needs a backup goalie for the next couple months.
...but whatever, the Blues won the Cup!!!!!

Sounds like the Red Wings are retaining half his salary. Great trade. Might fail, but if he can keep himself together off the ice this could be a major W. If not, nothing really lost.

Armstrong is amazing. You pick up a player like that for peanuts? The guy is a damn good player, a guy that scores goals, highlight reel goals. love the deal. Damn. Army is going to plug this team up with trades and FA and keep all his picks. Blues will be a WC contender again next year with a deep prospect pool. Way to go Doug!!

The reason he was able to get him so cheap was that he was in the league's substance abuse program for a big chunk of the year. He's got monster offensive game, but not much help defensively. Still, lots of upside at very little cost and not too much of a cap hit given the salary retention. Hopefully he can stay in a good place off the ice.

Probably felt bad for fleecing Army out of Walman and dumping Leddy on him. Honor among thieves or something

Adding Kasparen and Vrana for nothing more than their cap space and a bag of pucks is a great move by Army, imo. Low risk, high reward moves. If they don't work out, then they are gone after next year anyway.

22 goals in 43 games with the Red Wings. If he can get his shit together and ever stay on the ice for a season he's got 30-40 goal upside.

Yeah, if nothing else they should help the team stay afloat and sell tickets for the next few years while we wait for these prospects and 1st round picks to develop. Hopefully they can smooth out the dip.

The hard part is going to be doing something to improve the D. No idea what that looks like and likely takes place over the summer, but we'll see.

Guessing the plan will be that the guys they are paying now just get better and rebound. Always possible, but we could be right back in the same spot next trade deadline.

Can we go back in time and let Berube go to the Bruins and keep Monty here?

Army will probably use one or two relatively high draft choices to provide incentives for other teams to take on one or two of The Blues' bad aging veteran's defencemen's contracts.
