127Related but not related. Did I hear Mizzou's season opening football game isn't available tonight in St. Louis due to an ESPN/Charter or whoever dispute?
...but whatever, the Blues won the Cup!!!!!

128It was available on ESPN+/SEC network for me but maybe different in St Louis. Spectrum dropping ESPN right at the start of CFB season is criminalDave's a mess wrote: Thu Aug 31, 2023 9:11 pm Related but not related. 129Not great news, Cook is still going to be the starter.
If Mizzou had a real QB, they could contend for the division title IMO.
I'd like to know what the heck is wrong with Jake Garcia. Must of really rubbed the HC the wrong way. How he isn't the front runner to compete for the QB job is beyond me. Sam Horn in no way is ready for the starting job. Really brings up a red flag on Garcia. He can't be too happy that he transferred there and doesn't even get a shot. Gotta be pissed.

130I couldn't read the article but why does the NHL put up with this.
A cheap as can be. That's what they think you deserve.

131They’ve made it too expensive for you to go to games and now they are making sure you can’t watch at home either. Sound business strategy.BluesSK wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 8:06 pm I couldn't read the article but why does the NHL put up with this.

132I couldn’t read it either - another sound strategy - but found the article via other means:
And yeah, my son and I were looking at going to that Caps game this season, as we’d like to see Ovi one more time and it doesn’t look like the suite is going to happen (due to price increases). The cheapest seats are like $70 each. That means for me, my wife, him and his wife, we’re at nearly $300 before parking or refreshments. And this shit company wants me to pay $20/mo for one thing I care about, now featuring reduced camera shots. NHL is fucked in the head. Neither of those are viable prices. And they keep raising the cap, raising player salaries… gee, wonder who pays for that?
That’s it. That’s the entire article they want you to pay for. Minus the fantastic headline picture used in that tweet, of course.

133I got to watch game1 on ESPN+ via Hulu/Netflix .... national game with Dallas announcers (had to watch with no sound). If you can't afford to go to home games, or travel to the away games, the NHL doesn't give a fat fiddler's fuck about you... period.
Re: Bally Sports Midwest expected to charge $20-$30 monthly for direct access
134More Bally’s sports fun. Comcast has pulled them. It is nearly impossible for a local sports fan to watch their team.

Diamond Sports Group originally agreed to a six-month extension with Comcast in the fall but could not agree on a new multiyear contract by the time that deal expired on Tuesday night, prompting Comcast to pull its Bally Sports channels.

137By the way, unrelated but I was traveling via amtrak today and connected to their wifi and went to check this board and was presented with an IP address ban Wonder who you IP address banned while they were on an AmtrakT.C. wrote: Fri May 03, 2024 5:06 pm "nearly impossible"? welcome to three years ago now. i have forgotten what it's like to watch hockey 3-4x per week.

138I was in Boston earlier this week and my hotel didn't have NESN, and TBS was blacked out so I couldn't watch Game 6 from Boston. Luckily my work laptop has a VPN so I could watch on hulu. NESN isn't part of Bally's/Diamond Sports, so all the local networks are finding ways to screw fans.T.C. wrote: Fri May 03, 2024 5:06 pm "nearly impossible"? welcome to three years ago now. i have forgotten what it's like to watch hockey 3-4x per week.

142Oh, now that it hits baseball, the sky is falling? I mean, I’m happy about people finally paying attention, but fuck you.
Important line:
The only thing that concerns me in that article is this quote:
Oh, right.
Important line:
WHAT!?!?!?!? Holy shit that’s fucking ideal. I swear, if Diamond somehow is able to continue and the NHL signs a new deal, fuck them forever. You have all the cards. You have existing national partners. You have your own infrastructure. I know this seems obvious, but you know, maybe don’t have too many cooks in the kitchen? Yes, it limits your options for negotiation having all your eggs in one basket, but holy fuck man. This is something that continues to happen all the goddamn time and isn’t right for your fans. It’s your greed that caused this in the first place. Eat it a bit if you have to, but DO FUCKING NOT sign another deal with RSNs that includes blackout provisions.Diamond recently asked to move its confirmation hearing from mid-June to the end of July largely to buy more time to negotiate deals with the NBA and the NHL, both of which were able to essentially take their digital rights back at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.
The only thing that concerns me in that article is this quote:
Like they WANT Diamond to come out of this and sign another RSN deal. This fucking clown shoes league, I swear. Even the Cup finals, can’t possibly broadcast those on a widely-adopted national platform that you already had in place (Hulu with ESPN+ or HBO for all other playoff games), you have to do it on goddamn ABC that has no real streaming presence (why would they)? Lucky for me they did, as I have a cheap OTA antenna so was able to watch the last game and the next one, but this is the most retarded fucking league. What a joke. Who the hell is running this and allowing this dumb shit to happen for YEARS now, taking the game away from a shitload of fans?As NHL attorney Shana Elberg said June 4: "Time is of the essence."
Oh, right.
