Re: News and Games around the NHL
7576BS excuse. He's clearly trying to draw a tripping penalty by diving and dove right at his knee. Inexcusable.
Just a Russian propaganda account
I don't know, I don't like Stone, but an oft-injured player purposely diving headfirst into someone's knee during a January game is a tough leap for me to make.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 11:20 am BS excuse. Oh I don't think he thought to himself, I'm going to launch myself into his knee and try to seriously injure him. But do I think he dove and ended up in that situation all on his own doing? yes and that is unacceptable. Again, nothing about it is a hockey play.Dave's a mess wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 12:40 pmI don't know, I don't like Stone, but an oft-injured player purposely diving headfirst into someone's knee during a January game is a tough leap for me to make.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 11:20 am BS excuse. Just saw this thread. After digesting this and reading about the Hintz claim, I have to agree it's hard to believe Stone would dive head first just to take someone out. Even though he is a big ass, that type of play doesn't make sense. Can't ever recall a football like tackle on an ice rink like that before.Dave's a mess wrote:I don't know, I don't like Stone, but an oft-injured player purposely diving headfirst into someone's knee during a January game is a tough leap for me to make.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 11:20 am BS excuse. In light of the goings-on in Alaska with Denali, I don’t think I’d go with Wasatch… Wasatch is a Native American name… been that way for centuries… under the new administration, it may get a new self-serving name like MAGA Mountains or Republican Range. Not being political… just being observant of what’s going on.BillP. wrote: Thu Jan 30, 2025 12:23 pm Smith Entertainment Group announced Wednesday that the three finalists are the Utah Hockey Club, the Utah Mammoth and the Utah Wasatch.
So what do you guys like?
I'm partial to Wasatch as the nickname since it has something to do with mountains and that would mean a decent logo.
Mammoth is probably a better nickname but I get the feeling they'll totally screw that logo up.
They missed an opportunity to be the “SLC Punks.”Turk Sanderson wrote: Thu Jan 30, 2025 1:08 pmIn light of the goings-on in Alaska with Denali, I don’t think I’d go with Wasatch… Wasatch is a Native American name… been that way for centuries… under the new administration, it may get a new self-serving name like MAGA Mountains or Republican Range. I'm going with Utah Tropics.T.C. wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 2:37 am Should’ve kept Yeti in the running. Utah Hockey Club is fucking retarded and should be tossed outright. So really there are two options here. I’m fine with either but could see plenty of folks in other parts of the country mispronouncing the Wasatch name either accidentally or on purpose. Mammoth could be OK but yes agree that they will absolutely fuck that logo up. Is it too late to submit the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs?
I’m more wondering if locals will be able to watch the games, and if so, how? Was a new TV deal brokered, or is this slipping into whatever the SLC equiv of the channel formerly known as FSMW is out there? I really miss watching hockey, so would be nice to hear that they are simply taking advantage of the existing ESPN programming and NOT having any local/regional/blackout bullshit.
I 100% thought "Wasatch" was a typo of Sasquatch until I kept seeing it everywhere. Outlaws is back in the running. Outlaws and Mammoth both have a bit of minor league lacrosse type feel (not a compliment), but copyright laws seem to have made it so that's all you can get these days. Both could produce some fairly cool logos at least.BluesSK wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 7:44 am No more Wasatch.
Literally no one outside of Utah knows what a Wasatch is. It's totally unmarketable.
I thought it was maybe like a female sasquatch.Dave's a mess wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 8:13 amI 100% thought "Wasatch" was a typo of Sasquatch until I kept seeing it everywhere. I wonder if the Blues will continue to be willing to go up to the cap in 27-28. They'll finally have the cap space and hopefully some young, cheap roster players to seriously augment the roster, but will an internal cap finally come into play for Stillman?
I'd be okay with it. Works in Toronto.big d note wrote: The Colorado Mammoth and Denver Outlaws are literal lacrosse teams here and the first thing I think of for those names. Still, Mammoth is the best of the three finalists.
I still vote for Utah Raptors though.
It's only good news if Army uses it wisely.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Great news! I think...
You definitely won’t be able to afford to go to a game, and they will black-out all of them to try to make you go. The Blues will still be a .500 team needing a 2nd line center and a right defenseman.Dave's a mess wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 11:44 amI wonder if the Blues will continue to be willing to go up to the cap in 27-28. You're on the ball Turk. Blues need 2 Elite Forwards and an Elite Defenseman. And one of the forwards first and foremost needs to be an elite Center.Turk Sanderson wrote:You definitely won’t be able to afford to go to a game, and they will black-out all of them to try to make you go. My take is that Stone could have just as easily rolled to his right and avoided the dirty hit, but Stone being Stone… he should be on LTIR at this time of the year anyway.BillP. wrote: Thu Jan 30, 2025 12:20 pmJust saw this thread.
