Just in general, or are they going someplace specific?
Reinstated so they can be hired anywhere. Bowman is rumored to be a frontrunner for the Edmonton GM job. It seems absolutely insane to me that he'd get a job before Quenneville.
...but whatever, the Blues won the Cup!!!!!

That would guarantee Edmonton would suck forever.

I'm just saying if they let guys that covered up a rape back in the league, you'd think the guy who was good at his job would get hired first.

Byproduct of the type of draft. There's nothing flashy about any of the players really, they are just hopefully solid NHLers. None of them doing anything especially great.

I will say though, after seeing the money handed out to bottom pair D-men yesterday, if 2 of these 3 turn into solid NHL d-men than you've got a hot commodity in today's NHL.

The metaphor I made in my head about the Blues draft was that the Blues were a golfer just going for the middle of the green for 18 holes rather than going flag hunting. It doesn't exactly work as a metaphor, but the idea was they didn't overthink it and just replenished a dire need in the system with their premium picks. The quality of their draft board relative to others won't be known for years, so I'm not stressing about it.

Our contracts on defense don't look so awful anymore. If I'm a fan of some of those teams I will be regretting yesterday in a few years. Misery loves company I guess.

Yes they do, because the production is still awful.

Most of them are playing on a line one slot higher than their abilities. If we had a real #1 D-man our defense would have been passable last season.

That's a fair point. I agree that the contracts have gotten better, but the players have gotten worse in the case of Faulk and Krug. Even if the team isn't trying to seriously contend this year, you'd think status quo on the blueline would be a disappointment. Letting Scandella walk is all well and good, but that group needs more of a shakeup.

I think Monahan’s is worse. That guy went into an abyss and just so happened to put up some numbers last year. He literally could do nothing all 5 years of that deal. At least Stephenson will have impact the first few years of his deal.

He's at least got a track record of being a consistent 60 point guy. He had the covid year, then a really bad year, then had an injury year but was pacing another 60 point season before the injury. Other than that he's been pretty good. It certainly could go either way with him, but at 5.5 he could be great value. Stephenson's career years barely touch his averages and he got more money and he's a year older. Just think it has more chance to go sour.

Reinstated by the League. Nothing imminent as far as moves.
“Reinstated”? into what? Is there some secret coaches society where they had to go through their making ceremony again? They are coaches, not players. I understand the acronym NHLPA, but the “P” seems to indicate “not coaches”. I thought coaches were civilians that were good as telling players how to play hockey. In which case, they don’t need to be “instated” into anything. Is there a coaches union or something? If so, it sucks, because their pay is all over the place.

Individual situations. They were suspended from being employed in the NHL in ANY capacity after the scandal while they were with the Blackhawks, until further notice i.e. after meetings and discussions with the NHL administration itself (Bettman, Board of Governors, etc.). Apparently those meetings and discussions have happened and they can be employed in the NHL once again.

When he first became a Blue I thought he would become a Blues legend instead of turning into an overpaid journeyman making a tour throughout the League.

I think there is enough blame to go around both ways in why this never happened. He never should have bulked up so much. The Blues put an overemphasis on this and I think it was detrimental to his play and may have contributed to his shoulder issues.

And he should have never been so stubborn. If this guy would have taken some advice and learned to one-time that wicked shot of his there is no doubt in my mind he would have been a Hall of Famer.

Too bad. He's still one of my all time favorite Blues though.
