The Canucks drama has been wild the last couple months. Their two best (and highest paid) forwards, Elias Pettersson and JT Miller are not getting along and apparently it's bad enough that Vancouver is looking at dealing one or both of them:
There's no real match with the Blues as far as I can see, but that's such a ridiculous situation. They've probably both been at fault, but if you're looking for a path to the playoffs for the Blues, it'll be because a team currently holding a playoff spot struggles the second half of the year. The Canucks are currently in the second wildcard spot....

7553After being in the League for 52 years, tonight Vancouver got their first ever shutout win in Toronto.

7554Im sorry but whether your Connor McDavid or David McConnor if you do something worth getting suspended you should get suspended.

Re: News and Games around the NHL
7555It's either give out suspensions that are fair and equal or go back to old time hockey. Either way is fine with me but the players and NHL need to pick a lane instead of picking and choosing arbitrary punishments based on who the player is or what team they are on.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 7:09 pm Im sorry but whether your Connor McDavid or David McConnor if you do something worth getting suspended you should get suspended.

7556Obviously, Canada believes that no one is above the law.. if it happened on the south side of the border, they may have given him immunity,BluesSK wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 8:00 pmIt's either give out suspensions that are fair and equal or go back to old time hockey. Re: News and Games around the NHL
7557For those that missed it here’s what he was suspended for. It’s a pretty clear and intentional cross check to the head.
If he hadn’t been suspended you’re basically saying everyone gets a free cross check to the head before punishments get handed out. If you’re a big enough name at least.

7559I don't understand the problem. McDavid crosschecked a guy in the head...DOPS gave a reasonable punishment...teammate whines. I don't think there's anything to see here really.Turk Sanderson wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 8:24 pmObviously, Canada believes that no one is above the law.. if it happened on the south side of the border, they may have given him immunity,BluesSK wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 8:00 pmIt's either give out suspensions that are fair and equal or go back to old time hockey. But no, we probably should've breathlessly debated this one before the suspension. I'll throw some fodder...the real villains were the refs, who created the whole mess by not calling a penalty on Garland in the 20 seconds he was mauling McDavid before he snapped and cross-checked him.

7571To me, it's basically Rantanen for Necas. Necas is gonna be a star in the League but he really didn't want to remain in Carolina.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 8:53 pmIt feels low for Colorado. I'd be pretty excited if I'm a Colorado fan. They get a 2nd round pick too.
If I'm a Chicago fan I'd be kinda confused after those moves.
Re: News and Games around the NHL
7572Taylor Hall hasn't been great this year. I believe he was a healthy scratch a while back and just hasn't really worked with Bedard. Don't know if it's an age thing, a chemistry thing, locker room thing or what, but it hasn't gone to plan.BluesSK wrote: Sat Jan 25, 2025 1:39 amTo me, it's basically Rantanen for Necas. Re: News and Games around the NHL
7573Carolina getting Hall is a good move for a Cup contender. He can play down the lineup and add some depth in case there are injuries. Veteran guys like that are always needed on Cup runs.Dave's a mess wrote: Sat Jan 25, 2025 10:35 amTaylor Hall hasn't been great this year. 7575You can't see it in that clip, but Stone claimed he got clipped by Hintz's stick and tripped. There's not a ton of contact but there definitely was some.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 10:18 am More dangerous than an elbow to the head in my book. This isn't even a hockey play
