Fascinating signing. Sanderson was the 5th overall pick in 2020. He's only played one year in which he was pretty solid, particularly for a 20 year old. He produced 32 points and saw some PP time. He still has one year left on his entry level deal before the extension kicks in. He's not an $8 million player, but he seems like a likely bet to be one in the not to distant future. Having said that, it's a gamble for a guy that has 77 pro games under his belt. It's a great deal for Sanderson as it bypasses the typical bridge contract and will get him another crack at a huge contract when he's 30. Ottawa is really locking in its young core and supplementing with some solid veterans. I don't know if they get over the hump and get back into the playoffs this year, but I'm sure they'll be a popular pick to do so.
What's this guys ceiling? Is he going to put up some offensive numbers and play stout D? You'd think giving him that kind of early lock in, they'd be able to sign him for less than 8M per year. I assume his ceiling is pretty high.

He's a high ceiling guy, though I couldn't tell you exactly given that I didn't watch a ton of Sens games this year. Just interesting that they're betting big early after already locking in a bunch of their guys. Not necessarily a bad bet, but one based on a limited amount of NHL games.
...but whatever, the Blues won the Cup!!!!!

Warning:NSFW language

He'll be gone if the mainstream media picks this up and runs with it.
JD isn't getting what he thought he'd be getting. He'll regret this one.
Problem is this type of thing isn't surprising. There's no reason he shouldn't have expected it.

Old Boys Club.

That's how the NHL has always been. Joel Quenneville is available right? He'll definitely be back.

If he really wanted to make this some kind of a team building exercise then he could have asked the players in a team meeting or web conference to post a picture of who they are motivated by or whatever the hell it was he was trying to accomplish.

This is just Pierre McGuire style creepiness which the NHL needs to stamp out permanently.

I think he was a pretty good coach in his day but there is much too much baggage with this guy to let it slide.
