I just don’t think there’s a whole lot separating the “best in the West” from the rest. I’d add Calgary and Vancouver into that as well.

Wild were backing into the playoffs but then added one of the top 10 players in the world back to their lineup.

The difference in the quantity of quality teams in the West compared to the East is really noticeable.

Oooooh baby we're getting to the good stuff. Lots to talk about from last night:

Carolina finishes off NJ. Boring. Devils never stood a chance without Hughes.

Senators win 4-0 to force Game 6 against Leafs. This one was 1-0 about halfway through the third, Leafs were zipping the puck around on the PP, might've hit a post in there...then gave up a shortie to make it 2-0. The series goes back to Ottawa for game six. The best analysis I've ever heard about this generation of Leafs team is that they're actually pretty good when they face adversity, it's when things are going great that you have to look out. Blowing a 3-0 series lead would definitely continue that trend.

In Game 5 in Vegas, Minnesota appeared to score a go ahead goal without a minute left in regulation. The league reviewed for kicking motion and deemed it was a good goal, but then Vegas challenged for offsides and had it reversed. It's one of those calls where yeah he was definitely offside, but he also had nothing to do with the play whatsoever. Naturally Vegas won in OT to take a 3-2 series lead.

After relying on 3rd period comebacks when they'd been outplayed in Games 3-4, the Oilers took a more traditional route to victory in Game 5. They dominated in the first, but couldn't score, then actually fell behind on a LA PP goal in the second before equalizing a few minutes later. Edmonton took the lead midway through the third then added an empty netter. This one was a real kick in the dick for LA. Shots were 46-22 Edmonton. They can clinch at home in Game 6.
...but whatever, the Blues won the Cup!!!!!

I am fully invested in this Leafs Sens series. Leaf fans were already showing off their brooms after game 3 and now they are heading to game 6. It would be the most Leafs thing ever to blow a 3-0 and honestly, I would find it so entertaining. Is game 6 a must win for them?

 It's one of my favorites. That and series doesn't start until the away team wins so technically the Blues series hasn't even begun yet.

Stars coach weighs in on Rocky Mountain pie
DeBoer discusses favorite pizza place in Denver ahead of Game 6 against Avalanche

DENVER -- Here is a slice of life in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Pete DeBoer knows Denver well from years of coaching against the Colorado Avalanche, and he’ll be back with the Dallas Stars for Game 6 of the Western Conference First Round on Thursday. Dallas leads the best-of-7 series 3-2.

Asked about his routine the other day, he told the media that he likes to walk from the team hotel to Ball Arena and back.

“I really enjoy downtown Denver, and it’s a nice walk to the hotel,” he said in the press conference room at the rink. “There’s a pizza place about halfway between here and our hotel I try and stop at a lot.

“It’s got a Big Mac pizza that tastes exactly like a Big Mac. It’s unbelievable. I’ve never had anything like it.

“And it has a jalapeno popper pizza with grape jelly. Sounds crazy. It’s maybe the best thing I’ve ever tasted. Try it out.”

Hmmm.

OK. I decided to try it out.

In the spirit of investigative journalism, of course.

The place is SliceWorks, a joint in a brick building on 17th Street two blocks from Union Station. Bags of flour and cans of sauce are stacked against one wall, and an Avalanche logo is part of a graffiti-like mural on another.

I walked over from my hotel Tuesday, and I ordered one slice of the Big Mac pizza and one of the jalapeno popper pizza for lunch.

My sophisticated foodie review:

Yummm.

The Big Mac pizza does taste exactly like a Big Mac, with chunks of all-beef patties, a drizzle of special sauce, cheese, pickles and onions. But instead of a sesame-seed bun, it’s on a crispy, sesame-seed crust.

The jalapeno popper pizza with grape jelly doesn’t just sound crazy. It is crazy. Cream cheese. Jalapenos. Mozzarella. Cheddar. Grape jelly. The sweet heat is delicious, and you can dip your crust in the extra grape jelly that slides off onto the paper plate.

Pro tip: Get extra napkins.

“I had no idea about this,” said Austin Falter, who has worked at SliceWorks for a little more than three years and was at the register Tuesday. “This made my day. This is pretty cool.”

I played Falter a recording of DeBoer’s comments. Turns out, DeBoer doesn’t just know hockey. He knows pizza too.

“He’s not wrong,” Falter said. “Those are my two favorite pizzas as well. Those are my go-tos.”

An all time fuck you moment from Mikko to the Avs front office. He wanted to stay and they didn't even use the months before the deadline to try to lower his price. I love stories like that, and then don't come much better than that one.

Considering their grossly underpresented in the league in general, thats quite astounding
Charles Barkley said Canada would get even with us for all those tariffs and take the Cup this year. His Oilers over Leafs pick in the Finals looks like it has a chance.

So I wasn't the only one who couldn't connect? Thought maybe TC was in the slammer or something.

Buffalo should of hired Coach Q.

Not the greatest news for us that he's in the West now.

He's just a washed up rehire with tons of baggage in my opinion. He hasn't led a team out of the first round in the playoffs since 14-15 season.

You could be right. He should be motivated to succeed though so we'll see.

But for how long

We've been doing this for about a week now.

How bout our boy Kasperi Kapanen!! He's playing damn good in Edmonton. Those Oilers are flying out there and somewhere in that mix is Kapanen fitting in.
I do wonder if Monty would of gotten use out of Kapanen. That might of been an early dismissal on the Blues part but good for Kasperi, he's going to get a shot at the Cup this year. I can't see Edmonton losing in the Conference Finals. Not the way they're playing and the momentum they've built up.

To be fair, TC did post at the beginning of the month that he was going to be traveling for a few weeks so if the site broke, he would not have time to fix it right away. Unfortunate timing is all.
