It's interesting to look at the uniforms that were left out of the bracket. It looks like the 07-14 (Backes era) home/roads were left out along with any version of the mid-70s through mid-80s. Those were pretty similar to the originals, but they made some tweaks to the striping, and slightly tweaked the blue. If you look at the link, below, I think my personal favorites might be the 77-79 setup.

P.S. That website is a treasure trove, but beware it is a rabbit hole you can get lost in easily.

Cream! He hates cream

The cream color comes from washing them in that old machine that they stole from Peoria.

I'm afraid Zach Dean may be on the same path as Perunovich in a year or two, as well.

It doesn't do you any good to overvalue your own prospects. Sure it is theoretically possible in a few years we look back at this trade as another Jake Walman situation, however I think it's more likely he's out of the league by then.

The timing of the trade is interesting. We're still about 6 weeks from the deadline. Is this a precursor to another trade? Maybe Leddy is ready to return? I suppose it could just be the best they were going to get and that he wasn't likely to play unless someone else gets hurt.

I think you're right.

It's not like he wasn't given chances but that doesn't stop deranged takes on X/Twitter.

Looking at the standings and the surrounding teams, I think they stay right about where they are today. Before the year, I think you and I shared the concern that even if the roster was improved over last year, they were propped up by elite goaltending that almost surely couldn't repeated itself. That's pretty much what has come to pass. Overall this year the 5 on 5 play has been much better, but the goaltending has been about league average and the special teams have actually gotten worse.

Based on points percentage, they're currently picking 8th in the draft. I think they wind up in the 7-11 range. Results get goofy after the deadline when teams load up/sell off and kids get called up. I don't think the Blues look much different as Saad is the only likely trade chip and he's not contributing much anyway. Also I have to imagine the Snuggeruds/Dvorsky types don't get more than a handful of games.

Yeah, the assumption that this team was a playoff team required Binnington to have a repeat Vezina type year, however, his history has proven it's difficult to just expect that out of him. His save % is back to where it was the previous two years.

Army Presser Takeaways:
-Sounds like part of the thought process on Saad is that he's keeping Texier out of the lineup despite being more expensive and no better. Army didn't exactly sing Texier's praises but said "well our pro scouts saw something in him so let's give him a shot." Also, comment at the end seemed like Monty doesn't want to play him but Army needs to see him in the lineup for a bit to get fair assessment.
-Doesn't sound like Dvorsky or any young guns are coming up right away. Maybe if Texier sucks.
-Basically said they probably overvalue their own players, so they're looking at everybody starting with longest tenured to see if their analysis is right.

Sounds like the October 2025 roster is going to be missing a fair amount of familiar faces.

When he starts using the terminology "pullin' on the rope" and "in different directions", you can bet that changes are coming... He's gonna force Tex into the lineup for sure, not by command, he's just gonna remove enough options so that the coaches have no choice.

You can't just keep rolling out the same players who aren't getting any better night after night. Texier has been no worse than any of the other guys so he should get a decent look. I don't think he's had enough time to really get settled into the lineup.

Sundqvist needs to get healthy and placed on the wing or sit. Schenn is not a first, second or barely a third line center anymore. And Buchnevich and Thomas need to have the fear of God put into them. They aren't slipping down the lineup because other players are passing them by. It's because they aren't playing well enough.

I'm all for tanking at this point and to me that means playing guys who are part of the future and not the past. We know they aren't ready but since the season is toast it's a good opportunity for these guys to learn.

Glad he's finally admitting this. It's been his biggest flaw during his Blues tenure.
