He looks like an average sized player who had more turn overs than Kyrou
Yep. He looks like a complete defensive liability on the ice. Probably why he's a minus 61 in his first 106 games and if you're going to be that, you better be an all timer offensively. He's not a bust by any means, but he surely doesn't seem to be the Crosby/McDavid that he was billed to be.

2) Hawks are really bad at playing hockey right now.
3) The Blues' sweaters looked beautiful.
They're the 1938-40 St. Louis Flyers' Jerseys, but with Blues colours instead of the red and black stripes and black lettering. I remember The AHL St. Louis Flyers from around 1949 to 1953, when they folded operations. The AHL was the main development league for The NHL. With only 6 NHL teams, there were a LOT of very good players in The NHL (e.g. NHL level players not given a chance because there was no room for them).

Those Blues' jerseys are nostalgic for St. Louis old timers, but really, it looks like an old 1930s hockey uniform. It needs an encircled Blue Note logo added, just above the top stripe (or even eating a bit into the two top stripes (above the printed letters) in the centre of the jersey, and maybe change the small Blue Notes on the shoulders to that new STL bass clef logo. THAT would make a spectacular Old Guard nostalgic Flyers/Blues combo jersey.

The Blues would have been a lot sloppier, and maybe would have won by only one goal, barely surviving the 5 on 6.
And sat Kyrou for the last 8 minutes of the game to preserve the point.

hey, i actually got to watch this game! amazing!

was a fun, fantastic game. super weird to have it on NYE rather than jan 1, but it basically worked out for me. got off work right before the pregame started, essentially. speaking of the coverage, gretzky said he had been in town three days already, then later said he "didn't have a chance" to get by the "wayne's basement" gretzky museum. what the fuck? how do you not at least stop by a museum dedicated to you? he seems super uninterested in talking about gretzky things. nice tribute to him by the blues in pre-game skate, though. hope ovi breaks a couple of his records soon.

good on schenn to take on foligno just for the memory. he absolutely didn't have to. but fighting in a winter classic is a rare occurrence, might as well take the opportunity. too bad he's not a better fighter.

traffic had to be a goddamn nightmare down there. amusing that the blues "took the el" to the venue. would have been even funnier if they didn't buy out the train and just made them take real chicago public transport. talk about taking your life into your own hands.

and yes, kind of amusing that bedard is not the chicago savior everyone thought he'd be. gretzky was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt while simultaneously talking about how good he's not. gretzky isn't good at unbiased talking head gigs. probably for the same reason he wasn't good as a coach. don't get me wrong, i like it when he shows up, he's liable to say some wild shit. he's far from bernie, who eddie let us know was doing radio commentary. that had to be a nightmare. and holy shit, we get it, eddie played for the hawks, STFU about it already.

I will never forget that. I feel like that was the moment he sealed his fate for me. Not even to preserve a lead but actively admitted you're not playing and coaching to win a game is insane and just real loser in over his head moment. A shame and I hope he learned from his coaching time.

I think that was when everyone knew that it was only a matter of time before he would be replaced.

It was a stupid move on his part and a really easy way to lose the locker room.
