177Flames got hoodwinked. Without knowing what the Blues package was, I'm sure it wasn't as franchise damaging as getting locked into Huberdeau for the next 8 years. They got a first round pick out of the deal as well, but not until 2025. The Panthers are likely to be picking very late next year as well. Weegar has been pretty good at least. Really seems like they were trying to make a video game trade instead of a real one. I will add one dollar to DPW's offer for the recording of the Blues-Flames negotiations.BillP wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 2:22 amI don’t know about you but I thought it was practically a slam dunk he was coming here.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Sat Jun 08, 2024 9:59 pm There’s not a price I could put on hearing the Blues Flames Tkachuk talks.

178As a single male at 26yrs of age, would you rather live in orlando or st louis?
I dont think Tkachuck realllllly wanted to come here, it was more of a "it'd be cool to play w rob tom and be near family, buuuuut....." Situation imho

181If St Louis is such a bad place for people to live why do so many former hockey players stay even after retirement? Tkachuk didn't have a say in where he would end up either. When you're rich, every city is great to live in. Not even counting that you don't have to live their full time anyway.Ozzies09tc wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2024 9:12 am As a single male at 26yrs of age, would you rather live in orlando or st louis?

My curiosity is, was Kyrou a non-starter for the Blues in conversation or just Thomas? I would just love to know what they looked like, if names were ever discussed, what Army's interest truly was.

Re: Playoffs?!? (2023-2024 Edition)
182If I recall correctly, Tkachuk had a very small amount of teams he'd accept a trade to, and it was up to the Flames to figure out the deal they liked best. The Blues were definitely on that list. Honestly if I were him the Panthers would've probably been the ideal fit, given the tax benefit and an objectively superior roster, but STL was surely in the fold. Additionally, there's no reason the Panthers would've come up with such a big offer (disasterous as it turned out to be for CGY) if there weren't other serious bidders.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2024 9:45 amIf St Louis is such a bad place for people to live why do so many former hockey players stay even after retirement? 188McDavid still looks fast, but they're just keeping him to the outside all night. Still jarring to see him flying around out there after all these years. Doesn't look like a fair fight at the moment, but not willing to write off the Oilers until we see how they play at home.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Tue Jun 11, 2024 6:49 am Edmonton looks slow suddenly. 191can any of you that have been watching explain to me what the actual fuck this is? how is this allowed?

194NHL officiating is the explanation. Like most major sports, they just pick and choose what is allowed and not at any given time.T.C. wrote: Tue Jun 11, 2024 1:34 pm can any of you that have been watching explain to me what the actual fuck this is? how is this allowed?

198Was that during game play? Bouchard couldn’t breathe. You’re choking and the other guy don’t know it. That’s scary

200Especially because it all started with Draisatl launching himself into the air and making contact with the jaw of Barkov. Would be hard to punish Eklblad and not Draisatl and I don't think the league will have interest in taking those two out of the series.Ozzies09tc wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2024 6:01 am A star player (Ekblad, and by star i mean a casual hockey fan can say they've heard of him) won't get in any trouble.
