128Have to listen to Leafs Lunch on Monday. And maybe Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday…….
Re: 2021 Playoff Thread
129Oh man, how can Toronto never win a series? Well, having Thornton on the team surely can't help in a game seven.
Re: 2021 Playoff Thread
130Corey Perry scoring the GWG in Game 7 off the same knee that took out Tavares in Game 1 will surely sit well with Leaf fans.
...but whatever, the Blues won the Cup!!!!!

132That’s incredible. But probably not ideal for the league for a lot of its best players to not be showcased.

Still plenty of star power out there. Don’t forget Tampa, the Perfection line, etc.
And speaking of Boston, Fuck Boston.
Big win for Islanders.
Guess Varlamov won his gig back for the moment. Looks like Trotz goes with the hot hand in goal now.
Re: 2021 Playoff Thread
135MacKinnon has had the best contract in hockey for years. The Boston guys all took less to keep the band together. In fact Krejci is the highest paid Bruin until his contract comes off the books this summer.BillP. wrote: Tue Jun 01, 2021 1:23 amGuess MacKinnon don’t make a lot yet?Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Mon May 31, 2021 10:20 pmThat’s incredible. This stat is actually slightly inaccurate as Kucherov and Stone are both tied with a few others for the 16th highest cap hit, but the larger point remains. You can win with big contracts, but it sure does help if you can convince those guys to take a little less. Kucherov is still a bargain at $9.5M. Hell I'd argue that McDavid is a bargain at $12.5M. Some GMs are just a lot better at filling out the supporting cast on a budget than others.

136I know MacKinnon has said he has no regrets about his contract but man when he becomes a free agent in two seasons, we're going to see a record broken I believe. And he deserves it.

139Well, at least we ain't Maple Leaf fans...or fans of any Canadian team. This has to be embarrassing for the 'national sport' (maybe not official, but when folks think hockey, they think Canada first)...Sabre fans can probably relate too. Although there are odds either the Canadians or Jets may move forward this year to the SC (and at least one will make the Con Finals this year because of the way the brackets are), I doubt either of them can take out the Lightning or Avs (my two favorites to meet in the Cup this year) or even the Bruins:
Canadian droughts
Despite having fewer Canadian-based teams than U.S.-based ones throughout much of the NHL's existence (dating back to the Original Six era when it was two Canadian clubs to four American ones, and now 7 to 24 since 2017), there have been only two times in league history where none of the Canadian teams qualified for the postseason: 1969–70 and 2015–16.[1] The 1992–93 Montreal Canadians remain the last Canadian club to go all the way and win the Stanley Cup.[2]
Last time that none of the Canadian teams qualified for the playoffs: 2015–16
Last all-Canadian first round series: 2020-21 (Toronto vs. Montreal and Edmonton vs. Winnipeg)
Last time all the Canadian teams were eliminated in the first round: 2018–19 (Calgary, Toronto, Winnipeg)

Blues have won 31 playoff series since inception, the Leafs have won less than 20 I believe in that same time span.
Being a Blues fan suck less than being a fan of the Leafs, that's all. IMO
