Perron whips one in on The PP!!!! Blues back within one!!!
One of these nights I'm gonna bump a thread from 2014 and let Robb K do his magic.
Seconded. I haven't liked the Hoffman fit for a while. He turns the puck over sooooooo much. He's a frustrating player to watch on a nightly basis, but it's worth it if he's ripping in "easy" goals once in a while...which he hasn't been. Tarasenko will be fine I think, and I don't even think this is a demotion per se, more of just spreading out the lines. He's still on PP1.CaptSMRT wrote: Mon Apr 05, 2021 11:39 am There sure are a lot of fans out there who have short memories and bad depth perception to reality. The crying about Berube is starting to red line. The coach who did what no other coach has ever been able to do in the history of the franchise., and now he is dumb because he put Tarasenko on the third line or didn't play Hoffman enough. Go fuck yourself if you hate Berube.
As if every loss is only a few Hoffman shifts away from a win. Tarasenko is coming back from an injury....WTF is he supposed to do...take top line mins before he has had enough games to get up to speed?Dave's a mess wrote: Mon Apr 05, 2021 11:54 amSeconded. He should've rehabbed in Russia. Got himself all shot up with that miracle Sputnik COVID vaccine. Then he'd be scoring Red Berenson hat tricks every night, and he could cure the entire Canucks team & staff via a Zoom call.CaptSMRT wrote: Mon Apr 05, 2021 12:27 pm... Yeah. I don't even mind that Hoffman isn't like a forechecking missle. As Tim said, he's never going to be that. What bothers me is that almost EVERY time the puck is on his stick, the other team has it within 3 seconds. I swear if he's not firing a shot, he doesn't know what the hell to do with it. It's remarkable. I have been surprised by his willingness to get back on D, he's at least in the right zone on time, even if he's not the most stout once he's there. Whatever, problems run far deeper, as you alluded to. Tarasenko is gonna be fine, and as we saw a few games ago, may actually have that one timer we've been begging for for years.CaptSMRT wrote: Mon Apr 05, 2021 12:27 pmAs if every loss is only a few Hoffman shifts away from a win. Yeah....but Army will never do thatNHLTIM wrote: Mon Apr 05, 2021 3:06 pm Call me crazy but Iād move Tarasenko right now if we could get a quality young NHL roster player and A level prospect.
He's gonna have to do something eventually....more guys due for more money. Somebody is definitely going before the 2021-22 season
Yeah I don't know if I'd put anything past Army. I'm sure he's not loving what he's seen this year. I'd consider anything in the offseason.NHLTIM wrote: Mon Apr 05, 2021 6:48 pmHe's gonna have to do something eventually....more guys due for more money. Your not crazy, I agree, move him while the illusion of him being an elite goal scorer is still around.NHLTIM wrote: Mon Apr 05, 2021 3:06 pm Call me crazy but Iād move Tarasenko right now if we could get a quality young NHL roster player and A level prospect.
I think there are changes coming that should be able to help this team get back on the right track next year. To me goaltending is by far the biggest concern. If I'm being generous I'd say Binnington has been streaky since December 2019. If I'm being realistic I'd say Binnington has been shitty since December 2019. I think he definitely needs a vetaran that can carry the load from time to time to back him up. Husso isn't NHL ready and who knows if he will be. I think Parayko and Thomas will be fine long term provided Parayko's back injury doesn't become a chronic issue. The positives out of this year have been Kyrou making a big leap at the NHL level, and Faulk looking like the guy we traded for rather than the one struggling to find his role last year.UMSLBlues12 wrote: Tue Apr 06, 2021 10:27 am I don't want to sound all doom and gloom but I'm really worried about the Blues both now and moving forward.
We have two defensemen on long-term contracts who seem more like really good 2nd pair guys than top pair guys.
Binnington has pretty much sucked since the COVID pause and he's signed to 6x6 that hasn't even started yet. Husso hasn't shown he's an NHL level backup.
Tarasenko doesn't look like pre-surgery Tarasenko.
We don't exactly have a stacked farm system of cheap young talent.
Guys who we were hoping would take big steps forward this year (Parayko, Thomas) haven't, although perhaps due to injuries.
Where are the positives? I just at this point don't see this team being good this year or a conceivable way they're good next year without major changes.
I've been thinking the same thing. I know it is an early sample, but Kyrou seems to bring some of the same qualities as a young Vladi did. I also wonder if there is room for both of them on the same team. Kyrous game has dropped off noticeably since Vladi returned. It's almost like he feels like he's playing in Vladi's shadow or something. He was playing fearless hockey, now he is questioning every move.NHLTIM wrote: Mon Apr 05, 2021 3:06 pm Call me crazy but Iād move Tarasenko right now if we could get a quality young NHL roster player and A level prospect.
That's an interesting point Bill. In effect we traded Allen for Hoffman. We didn't have enough money to sign Jake to a reasonable back up contract (all he asked for) but we were able to pony up for Hoffman, who we paid almost twice as much for. I guess it all looked good at the start of the season, not so much now.BillP. wrote: Tue Apr 06, 2021 1:20 pm Binners magic is gone and so is the team. Not a surprise. And Blues miss Allen too. Ends up keeping Allen was > than acquiring Hoffman. Injuries were crazy, team never got on a roll. This team is still potentially crazy good IMO. This season does look lost but I expect Army to reboot this team with some moves.
