Re: No Lehtera tonight?

If Lehtera sits, this team should be able to adapt. I suppose it's a particularly unpleasant thought because they played so well once they got their lines realigned, but really if the system is too volatile to withstand lineup adjustments, then they are doomed. You have to be able to roll with the p...

Re: Calder Trophy Finalists

Ekblad, Gaudreau, and Mark Stone of Ottawa. Anybody else surprised no Forsberg? http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=764893&navid=DL|NHL|home" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; If the award went to best rookie performance in games against the Blues, it would go to Forsberg h...

Re: gotta believe .......

If you ask me that's just as much a problem as the players effort. When has Hitch ever said, "shitty game plan fellas. We'll get that fixed"? His line has always been "they're not buying in." Plenty of self reflection opportunities in that locker room. The "buying in" ...

Re: gotta believe .......

Yeah, I know I'm not making a logical argument. My gut just tells me coach. I question whether Hitch and his system are adaptable. Seems like if you throw a wrench in their gears they are done. So I suppose, then, the explanation for finishing toward the top and then tanking in the post season is t...

Re: gotta believe .......

I just can't wrap my head around the idea of the coach not taking a huge portion of the blame when a team consistently finishes toward the top of the league and loses 9 straight road playoff games (scoring a total of 11 goals) over a span of 4 years. so how did the team finish toward the top of the...

Re: Minny Gloating

If he's a non-factor then why are they talking about him ? They seem to be well aware of what he's up to, which tells me they're paying more attention to him then they'd like you to believe. Anyway, the article is disrespectful and I wish the Blues would do something to earn respect. Because he's s...

Re: gotta believe .......

How do you determine whether someone is a "core" player? Is it simply be virtue of being there longer than other players? I'm thinking a "core" built around 17, 20, 91 and 27 with the likes of 5, 42, 74, 23, 26, 12, etc. as support doesn't sound too bad. The players who make up t...

Re: Oshie

I think Backes stays regardless. His role just needs to be diminished. Honestly I think he has more value anyway. He's a proven 20-25 guy, with the potential to hit 30. Oshie is 15-20 tops. I agree 100% that Backes can be an asset in a diminished role. But how do you go about diminishing that role?...

Re: gotta believe .......

On the broadcast last night, Kerbs talked about losing 9 straight playoff games and suggested that it had to be more than just bad luck. He said there must be something fundamentally wrong in their approach. Chase was quick to disagree and said that can't be the case because it's a different group o...

Re: Lottery Draft Rant

I would like to see a mechanism disqualifying teams from sucking their way to multiple first-overall picks.... Perhaps disqualification of the lottery winner from receiving a top-five pick the following year? It's one thing to seek parity by enabling lesser teams to draft high, but rewarding the shi...

Re: Two Issues with the Blues

I went to both the game on Thursday and the game on Saturday and have noticed two issues that may spell trouble for us. 1. The two goal lead - I've seen this happen time and time again over the last few years, the Blues play some good hockey with a solid forechecking effort, lead by two after the s...

Re: The Drop Pass

Nothing wrong with a drop pass in certain situations.... but if you play defense and you're up by 2 with a few minutes left in regulation.... Terrible decision. His body language afterward indicated that he was well aware of how blockheaded the play was.

Re: karma

Oshie's high stick would be the hardest one to explain. Oh well we are in the playoffs hopefully everybodies healthy when they start. Should be fun. LGB!!!! There seems to be an unwritten rule that defensemen can maul forwards in front of the goal, but not vice versa. For example, Oshie got 4 min. ...

Re: Wolves -Parayko

Good point that I forgot to account for the natural lefthanders that shoot left. But, I still don't think that as high as 95% of left-handed shooters are natural right-handers. The breakdown depends mostly upon how much strength the players have in the arm and and on the same side as their handedne...
