Re: 2024 NHL Draft Thread

Reviving this thread after watching this video the Blues released. Gets pretty interesting once they get to the draft table. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3HRf6O6pu8 To me it looks like they were very worried about getting stuck without a player they liked at all at 16. You see some of the conver...

Re: News and Games around the NHL

Oilers are in their "Cup or Bust" phase. They can extend McDavid next summer, and locking up his running mate will make staying very appealing. It'll be interesting to see how high he goes in terms of AAV. He deserves a massive % of the Cap, but will he go for a bit less to help his GM out?

Re: Fantasy Hockey

I'll be able to make any draft time work for the most part, if not I'll have pre-ranks ready to roll. I'm not sure when final cuts are made around the league, but I'm fine doing it all the way up until 10/3.

Re: Blues 2024 Offseason Thread:

Bummer for Krug. Now we see how the left side shakes out. Leddy, Broberg, Perunovich, Suter, PO Joseph are the left shot D in contention for playing time. Do they move one or both of Broberg/Perunovich to right? I think we all hope that's not the case, but there are 5 names there and only 3 RHD at t...

Re: Prospects Thread

Everyone should also bear in mind that these rankings include NHL level players that are under 23. That gives big boosts to organizations that have high draft picks that crack the lineup early on, and the Blues don't really have any of those guys. Neighbours qualifies, but his ceiling isn't supersta...

Re: Prospects Thread

Just finished reading that. I think he probably gives a great deal of weight to skating, and some of the Blues high end prospects aren't high end skaters (DD, Snuggerud). I was surprised to see Lindstein rated 8th, thought he'd be higher. Overall I think 16 is reasonable for a group that doesn't hav...

Re: Blues 2024 Offseason Thread:

So after hearing a podcast discussing these edmonton guys, im a little more excited to see them. The defensemen is tall and big and can skate like j-bo and was used on the wrong side forcing him to be more aggressive instead of the j-bo esq style of skating it outta harms way The forward is able to...

Re: News and Games around the NHL

I wasn't very enthusiastic about our off season moves but after Armstrong bungdusted the Oilers it seems he has a plan. All except for Suter, just can't see the upside. Prior to the offer sheets, I found this offseason to be appropriately boring. Unless there was some trade out there to clean out a ...

Re: Blues 2024 Offseason Thread:

I count 6 defensemen in that group. 3 years left for Krug/Faulk, 2 for Leddy, 4 for Parayko. Those two things might be related. Krug, Faulk, and Leddy all have their NTCs drop down to 'list 15 teams' restrictions next Summer (along with Saad and Schenn). I'm pretty sure at least one of them will be...

Re: Blues 2024 Offseason Thread:

If the Blues got playoff Broberg than this is an absolute steal. He's not going to be payback for Pronger, but he fills something this team legit had zero of. A ready made, young, LHD to plug into the top 4. If he continues to get the 115 PDO he got in the playoffs just give him the Norris now. I a...

Re: Blues 2024 Offseason Thread:

Here's the clear direction we've been looking for: https://twitter.com/MDeFranks/status/1825901912815771930 *Provided you ignore the signing of 74 year old Ryan Suter Former 1st round picks above: Thomas Joseph Broberg Neighbors Holloway Bolduc Dean 1st round picks in the system: Jimmy Snuggerud (2...

Re: Blues 2024 Offseason Thread:

I feel much better about the team going forward now. Today is a great day for the Blues. I really want to see Dvorsky make this team out of camp. We have been relying on one too many AHL guys for a bit and honestly I’m glad to have the depth to where we don’t need those guys except for emergency ca...

Re: Blues 2024 Offseason Thread:

Why do we give Edmonton more draft picks and compensation in a second transaction? I don't understand that at all. I guess maybe Edmonton was going to match on Holloway and the Blues sweetened the compensation to make it go away? There's a reason for sure. Still a great deal for the Blues to get 2 ...

Re: Blues 2024 Offseason Thread:

It turns out we forgot that dumping Ceci always makes sense because he's a very bad NHL hockey player. Now we can move onto being worried about having 9 defensemen under contract, 4-5 of which are seriously overpaid. I'm counting Broberg in that group since he was literally just signed to a contract...
