Re: 2016 Draft

If they're somehow able to move up, the guys I really like in this draft are Dubois, Jost and Keller. I see Dubois going 4th, maybe 5th. I have Jost and Keller in my top-10 and think they'll be gone in the 7-12 range but I could see either conceivably dropping to maybe 13-15. I had Connor ranked 7t...

Re: Trade Petro?

I've got no interest in RNH. He's more of what we already have. Draisaitl isn't proven but I believe he has legit #1C potential...and I think he'll reach that potential. He's not a guarantee whereas Petro is super established though so I would want something else on top of Drais to even out the deal...

Re: Drouin

Not that I put a lot of weight on Eklund, but he was saying Shattenkirk for Drouin, which would be a TERRIBLE move. No way it happens. Just throwing it out there for those who don't listen to the buzzcasts. In my opinion, the only way you get Drouin is to package Petro, Berglund, and someone like P...

Re: Drouin

TB would probably want Fabbri. I wouldn't do that although the two have comparable talent.

If the price is lower (say Jaskin and a pick) then sure but Drouin's a pure winger so doesn't fill a need so I wouldn't go out of my way to trade for him.

Re: World Juniors

One more thing worth noting is that the only participating Blues prospect in the tournament, 2015 5th rounder defenseman Nikko Mikkola of Finland, has one assist through five games in his home country. One guy you guys are forgetting is Dmitri Sergeyev for Russia. Solid defensive d-man that plays f...

Re: Lindbohm

Lindbohm has looked good so far. I like his tenacity. I don't really see him having great top-end potential or anything but he brings good grit to the 3rd pairing. Borts is a good 7th D-man option and it makes more sense to have a guy like him sitting in the pressbox most nights over a younger guy l...

Re: Whats your preferred lineup?

The last I recall, Lehtera was the 3rd line C for the Finns in the last Olympics but I may be mistaken on that. I didn't exactly pay attention to the Finnish team all that much 2 years ago . :) Slacker. What are we paying you for? Wait, I'm supposed to be getting paid?!? I must be due millions of o...

Re: Whats your preferred lineup?

I think you answered your own question as to why Gomez hasn't been playing lately. He's a C and only makes sense centering one of the top 3 lines and there's currently 3 Cs ahead of him. That only changes if Backes is moved to RW (unlikely) or one of Stastny, Backes or Lehtera get injured. If Gomez ...

Re: The Curious Case of Jake Wallman

Of course USA Hockey screwed the pooch here. It may be a silly rule but it seems plain as day. And it's even more baffling that the US tried to get a nearly exact exemption on another player a few years ago and were denied for the same reason. They should've seen this coming a mile away. Walman has ...

Re: Walman, Blais, Dunn

Yep, Dunn and Walman are currently the top scoring D-men in the OHL and NCAA respectively. Heck, Walman is 6th in league scoring counting the forwards! He's simply on fire. Both have really upped their stocks since being drafted. It sucks that the IIHF rules that Walman can't play for the US in the ...

Re: OT

I wouldn't read anything into it. The plan was very likely to have him out there for the 2nd shift but unfortunately...we didn't get that far. It happens. Oh well.

Re: The Trade that has to happen (next summer)

I mentioned this over on HF last night, but what about finding a trade partner for Shatty who has the left-handed equivalent of Shatty? It wouldn't really be just shuffling deck chairs, as handedness matters to an awful lot of people in the NHL. OEL is an example, though I doubt that is something t...

Re: The Trade that has to happen (next summer)

I'm finding it amazing how undervalued Petro is becoming with some Blues fans. He's not super flashy in the O zone anymore but the entire team runs through him. He's one of the best transitional D in the world. He's only missed something like 3 games his entire career so perhaps him always being th...

Re: Entire OHL team quits

I feel bad for Costa Papista - President of the team. He's probably had to shovel a lot of his boss' shit the past few days. If you'd just read up on Papista's past in juniors & minor pro hockey businesses, you might not feel so sorry for him. This might just be the first time he was ever consi...

Re: Defense-Beyond this season

Jake Walman is a quality left D prospect as well. And Sergeev has a shot at being an NHLer as well. Also on the left side. Mikkola and Sarri are a couple of Finnish lefties that are a ways down the depth chart as well. They're not likely to develop into NHLer...but then again, the exact same thing w...

Re: McDavid is out indefinitely

I don't think Hall was but Nugent-Hopkins separated his shoulder pretty had as an 18 year old. That's oftentimes the risk of playing teenagers. Perhaps ready skill-wise but questionably ready body-wise. As this is a Blues forum, I'll note that this perhaps slightly opens the door for Parayko to win ...

Re: Ty Rattie

I would classify Rattie's acceleration, lateral movements and transitions as a bit below average for an NHLer with his speed being about average. He's gotten a lot stronger on his edges though and has made some strides in his skating...it's still probably his main weakness though. It's not so bad t...

Re: Pietrangelo

Again, I think Petro is in the elite tier in terms of his defensive and transition game but I will say that his offensive struggles confuse me. Maybe I'm getting senile in my old age and am misremembering things but I seem to recall that in Petro's first couple years in the league, a strength of his...
