2Made this the first GDT of the season. Odd venue, but probably still better than the local sheet that is the ‘yotes home ice now.
Let’s see (hear) what some potential keys make of their opportunity.

3Mrs. JMC 'n' me will be in attendance. Not sure if I'll be able to ID many of the players, but I'll try to post some general observations.

4And Intrust Bank Arena isn't an odd venue. It's the NHL's choice that was odd. We'll see if there are a significant number of Bluenotes in the crowd tonight.

Warmups underway. LOTS of Blues gear on display among ticketholders, and the usual mix of other NHL teams plus ECHL Wichita Thunder faithful.

7Binner was the last goalie on the ice for The Note. And this other guy was out there, too ...
Re: GDT: 9/24/22, Blues @ ‘Yotes in Kansas, 7p, ESPN radio
8Surprised the IBA opened up one side of the upper deck. Some Wichita folks can't (or won't) afford NHL prices. Gotta get that money somehow.

10Kids starting for St. Louis (incl. Perunovich, Kessel, Bolduc), in front of Binnington
Re: GDT: 9/24/22, Blues @ ‘Yotes in Kansas, 7p, ESPN radio
142-1 Blues after one period. Pretty even play, though AZ had the shot advantage. Bolduc looking very comfortable on offense at this level. Frk getting attention from larger Coyotes defenders, but holding his own.

15Logan Brown looking like he's skating in someone else's skates. And those would have to be damn huge skates.
Re: GDT: 9/24/22, Blues @ ‘Yotes in Kansas, 7p, ESPN radio
16End of 2, 3-3. Blues had a 2-man advantage late in the period, and only managed to give up a breakaway chance. Joel Hofer looked positionally weak on the 2 Yotes goals early, but seemingly gained confidence later especially on the breakaway & two earlier screen shots.

18BUT the Blues lost the fake shootout. Season over, fire the coaching staff, rescind all player contracts.
Re: GDT: 9/24/22, Blues @ ‘Yotes in Kansas, 7p, ESPN radio
19"Character win" for the Blues prospects. One other name I should have mentioned was winger Josh Leivo, who is a capable 3rd or 4th liner for Blues fill-in but is far more valuable to the Springfield Falcons as they take another run at the Calder Cup.

20For the record, Final Score = 5-4 in favor of the visiting team. Announced attendance was 8,475, which wasn't that far off of reality even though there were some ticket scanning problems @ IBA. Wichita hockey fans (with us out-of-towners getting the assist) represented well for their city & quite likely will get another look at NHL exhibition hockey in the future.

21If the Coyotes play a game in Topeka, do they become the Kansas Coyotes?JMC-STL wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 10:35 pm For the record, Final Score = 5-4 in favor of the visiting team. 24How did Perunovich look? He really bulked up in the offseason.JMC-STL wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 10:35 pm For the record, Final Score = 5-4 in favor of the visiting team.
