This should be a good ole fashion slobber knocker with the two best teams in the West.

About the Avalanche:
Starting with a 5-2 loss Dec. 16 in St. Louis, Colorado is on a 2-5-1 skid. Most recently, the Avalanche lost 7-4 to Winnipeg on New Year’s Eve with the Jets’ Kyle Connor striking for a hat trick. Besides that 5-2 win, the Blues won 3-1 Oct. 21 in St. Louis, and are 6-0 against the Avs since the start of the 2018-19 season. But starting with tonight’s game, each of the final three meetings this season between the Central Division rivals is at Pepsi Center.
Defensemen Erik Johnson and Cale Makar missed the Dec. 16 game against the Blues but are healthy and back in the lineup.
At 23-13-4 Colorado remains in sole possession of second place in the Central with 50 points, but only because they have a game in hand with Dallas, which also has 50. The Avalanche have been better on the road (13-6-2) than at home (10-7-2) this season. They still lead the league in scoring, averaging 3.60 goals per game.
