The Athletic/JR’s All-decade Blues team

The roster:

Steen-ROR-Tarasenko
Schwartz-Backes-Perron
Berglund-Schenn-Oshie
McDonald-Stastny-Reaves
Stewart, Brodziak

Bouwmeester-Pietrangelo
Parayko-Shattenkirk
Jackman-Polak
Gunnarsson

Binnington
Elliott

Love Reaves making this team. Looking at Stastny’s overall stats, didn’t realize quite how underwhelming he was for us. I’d like to put someone over Berglund, but just like our current team, our all-decade team is short on good LWs.

I think Berglund's place is well earned though I'd rather see him on 4th line LW with McDonald on 3rd line LW. Stastny sits and Brodziak plays C. Also replace Stewart with Sunny D or Barbashev. They've been here for far less games but played huge in meaningful games for us. We've been a pretty damned good team this decade overall.

JR and TheAthletic putting out the lazy filler pieces to paying customers. Content dump

Stewart? Why? One of the most frustrating and disappointing players to ever wear the Blues uniform.

Agreed. At his best, sure. But we only saw that Stewart about 2% of the time. Lack of effort was disgusting.

Barnburner, I was always convinced that Stewie smoked a couple of doobies between periods. He sure played like he did. I think he was just ahead of his time and knew it would be legalized eventually!

Sure seemed that way. Based on the way he killed us when he played for the Avs, I was beside myself with joy when that trade was made. Then I read an article where one of the Avs players said that Stewie would be a Captain some day.
What a miserable letdown he turned out to be.

On the other hand, the St. Louis Thanksgiving parade is dull. Need the Blues players out there passing out beer! 😃

Stewie will always get a pass for me just based on the Brad Stuart fight in Detroit. One of the best teammate moments in Blues history. Will always love him as a Blue for that reason.

JR at his desk: "Tomorrow is turkey day, better earn a click for my pay. HMMMMM, what can I do, oh yeah let me pick an all decade team of players I personally liked and post about that..."

Guess I can’t argue with the starting lineup at forward. But I would redo the line combinations.

On defense Jackman definitely does not belong on this decades team. Dunn belongs on there instead.

And for the reserves, I’d come up with something better than that. Ott and Upshall or maybe even throw in Jason Arnott.

The Blues all decade team...see 2019 playoff roster. There is no argument to be had...last years team is the mot skilled the Blues have ever had and the proof is etched in sterling silver.

They have been on a tear lately too...which is more impressive considering the injuries.

Meh, these things are purely subjective and bound to piss people off. JR's list is fine. I'm sure my own list would have some inclusions/omissions that would anger some. The nice thing is that many of the inclusions just got their names engraved on this big shiny trophy.

Just go to NHL.com stats (by player) and sort for Blues from seasons 2010-2011 to 2018-2019, click sum results, and you've pretty much got his list, with a few modifications.
