No details, but per Elliotte Friedman.

I love Schenn, but still think the right move might be to let him walk.

Let’s see what Army gets him for first. He’ll probably get him at a good price. Plus, Blues window is now.

Schenn is the type of player the Blues need to keep building around. They found an identity last year and Schenn fits that mold perfectly. If he and Petro get extensions, you would then have Tank, ROR, Schenn, Petro, Faulk for the next 4 years, and Perron/Parayko for the next 3. That is a hell of a core and keeps the Blues as Cup contenders for that time. As long as he doesn't overpay, Schenn needs to be back IMO.

Don’t see Schenn taking less than 7/$49 mil

I’ll take the under. Could be the Berglund special at 6.95M AAV. Army will make it sound good

I'm guessing 6 years, $6.8M or some weird number like that. That would be years 29-35 for Schenn. The fact that they're close to an extension already makes me think its going to be a pretty team-friendly deal

Well I was close on the AAV but 2 years short on the term. The last 3 years of that deal might suck, but $6.5 before that should be well worth it!

I think it's a fair deal.

I heard when the new TV hits, the cap will jump to around $90M. Anyone know when the new TV deal kicks in?

I'm betting that's front loaded. This is what happens when you win a cup! Just hope we dont look like the Kings in a few years.

How much does this leave for Petro? I was almost certain he was going to be the guy to get a deal done.

Man that makes that Kevin Hayes deal look even worse lol. Schenn is only a year older than him too.

Its only a $1.4M raise for Schenn, so I don't think re-signing Petro is out of the realm of possibility.

Really happy that Schenn has the chance to possibly finish his career as a Blue. I know Beatoni remembers that Schenn was a player that I was hoping would be a Blue coming out of junior.

Ok, I’m a fan of that deal. Didn’t think we’d get him for 6.5M based on what Hayes got this summer.

I agree the last few years he’ll like be similar to Steen is now, but 6.5M on the cap in 6-8 years shouldn’t be too bad.

As long as we continue to draft well and develop sleepers like Blais and Reinke, we could be fine. It helps when you hit on a top 3 talent like Tarasenko later in the 1st rd. Or like Boston getting Pasta with the 24th pick. Wouldn't hurt if we could do something like that.

Schenn deal looks very good in comparison to what the Islanders gave Brock Nelson as well.

The lower salary after year 6 will help make his contract moveable, especially if there is some team wanting to hit the cap floor in need of veteran leadership. Although I haven't seen/heard if there is a NMC/NTC in the deal.

Probably modified clause but I would think with Army giving him that 8th year , an NTC/NMC might not be on the table

Why the dip in 2022-23?

Army is all in on winning now. Next 3 years or so are going to be very competitive, and after that...well we'll figure that out later. Love the player. The last few years might be rough, but flags fly forever.
