Not asking who you think SHOULD be captain...but who will be captain.
Candidates are IMO:
Steen
Pietrangelo
Stastny
Tarasenko
Shattenkirk?
My money is on Petro though, when considering term, age, etc.
Re: Who will be captain next season?
21.) I'm pouting today and being dramatic so I really don't give a rats ass.
2.) David Perron (still pouting)
3.) Petro (for real think it will be him)

Re: Who will be captain next season?
3Petro. The obvious choice. Though, I don't think he is best suited to discuss issues with the refs on the ice which is a Captain's primary purpose. I think Steen would be best suited for that followed by Shatty but I don't think he is in position to get the C.
Re: Who will be captain next season?
4I'd be shocked if its anyone other than Petro or Steen. I'd probably give it to Steen, but Petro is the likely choice. Either is a fine pick in my opinion.
...but whatever, the Blues won the Cup!!!!!
Re: Who will be captain next season?
5Petro with Steen and Tarasenko as the Alternates
"Do Only Good Everyday"
Re: Who will be captain next season?
12FWIW they interviewed Backes at the Cards game last night. Jim Hayes asked about being in Pietrangelo's wedding, and Backes said "I asked Army if I could give him the C at his wedding as a wedding gift, but they want to handle that internally."
Re: Who will be captain next season?
13After listening to Army on the NHL network I'm going to say it very well could be Shattenkirk. I'm sure you all hear the same stories about Shatty being like a captain in the dressing room. I don't remember hearing much about how Petro is a big time leader in the dressing room, more of a leader on the ice.
Re: Who will be captain next season?
15Pietrangelo should be the next captain, as Steen might be gone after this coming season, as he'll be a UFA, in his early 30s. But, currently, I think The Blues will go with a 4 Alternates system.

16In this rare case, no. He'll just do the post-game analysis.Turk Sanderson wrote:Is the answer Jesus?

17There is nobody on this current team worthy of being an NHL captain.

Steen's a killer!!!
Re: Who will be captain next season?
19Completely disagree. I believe both Petro and Steen are "worthy". If Shattenkirk is still around I also believe he is "worthy".NHLTIM wrote:There is nobody on this current team worthy of being an NHL captain.
Re: Who will be captain next season?
20I'm thinkin' Tarasenko. He's been there and done that. Now that he's out of Backes' shadow...let it be his team now. I don't think his 8 million dollar paycheck is all about scoring goals..I think he's expected to be the team leader. Let him lead.
Re: Who will be captain next season?
21Have to disagree. On the trail of his lackluster effort against the Sharks, it would be the wrong timefor that move. Maybe next year, when he's earned it.Turk Sanderson wrote:I'm thinkin' Tarasenko. He's been there and done that. Now that he's out of Backes' shadow...let it be his team now. For now, my choice wouldbe Steen
Re: Who will be captain next season?
22Steen may not start the season, and if he is healthy, I'd just as soon trade him while they can get something for him and move on...he didn't exactly have a great postseason either. It's time to get younger.barnburner wrote:Have to disagree. On the trail of his lackluster effort against the Sharks, it would be the wrong timefor that move. 23I understand what you are saying and don't have a problem with it but I would rather Tarasenko focus on scoring as many goals as possible. There are others capable of being the captain.Turk Sanderson wrote:I'm thinkin' Tarasenko. He's been there and done that. Now that he's out of Backes' shadow...let it be his team now. 24He captained his team that won the world juniors in 2011...he would be fine.TR-USA wrote:I understand what you are saying and don't have a problem with it but I would rather Tarasenko focus on scoring as many goals as possible. Re: Who will be captain next season?
25You could be right, but I keep having flashbacks to Hull being given the C based on talent alone. On the other hand, I tend to believe that the C is over emphasized in a lot of instances. Leaders lead, whether they wear a letter or not. Hull was a prime example. There were few people who actually believed Hull was the leader of the Blues when he wore the C.Turk Sanderson wrote:He captained his team that won the world juniors in 2011...he would be fine.TR-USA wrote:I understand what you are saying and don't have a problem with it but I would rather Tarasenko focus on scoring as many goals as possible.
