Russian Hockey Player Slashed In Throat By Skate, Signals For Sub Before Collapsing

... The video below (is from) the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia, where HC Ugra and HC Slovan Bratislava are in the third period. That’s when Ugra’s Vitali Sitnikov was accidentally slashed in the throat when Slovan Bratislava’s Ladislav Nagy catches him wit his skate when he slips as he’s taking a shot.

Most amazing thing: Sitnikov, while holding his wound, motioning for a sub before he leaves the ice. Then he collapses. ...

The best part: the skate missed the artery (first time I’ve ever typed those words), and quick medical attention prevented a real tragedy. Sitnikov received a few stitches, and should be fine. ...
