I'd have to think Sanford would have made a decent 3rd liner (Better than what we've got now, at least), ditto with Berglund. And with Fabbri filling out the 2nd line instead of "Jaskin/Paajarvi/Kid who isn't ready yet," we'd be MUCH better off. As it is, we're probably stuck with Jaskin and Paajarvi both getting regular games/ice time even if they're little more than warm bodies out there.

Actually, without the injuries, I don't think we even re-sign Upshall, since we already had Bennett as well.

Bennett has a history of injurys throughout the previous seasons. I guess armstrong will get a few games out of him.

Berglund seriously cannot come back soon enough. Was hopeful Barbashev would continue moving forward and be capable of holding down the third line center spot while Berglund is out, but since he hasn't been able to missing Berglund has really hampered us IMO.

Not high on Sanford. No aggression in his game, doesn't engage enough in corners, lacks tenacity. Has pretty good hands and skill, but definitely not skilled enough to be strictly a finesse guy. To me, he'll be a fill in guy here until he runs his course like the others.

I agree except the kid screwed up the opportunity himself. The kid has all the tools to be a 15 goal, 35 point, 200 hit guy but apparently he's not goal driven.

I've stuck in his corner all this time but this latest episode where he literally took himself off the 2nd line by missing a team meeting convinces me that he's just a mess upstairs.

Not necessarily. It all depends on what you're willing to part with in order to get Duchene. Sakic probably doesn't want to trade him within the division, but he has also shown he's not against it, ala Colin Wilson. You'd need a cap dump. Who's eligible for that, Bouwmeester, Gunnarsson, Sobotka, and Berglund would be my guesses. Do you do a Ryan Miller style trade (except not getting Steve Ott). Duchene for Walman, Blais, and Bouwmeester? Duchene for Walman, Blais, Gunnarsson, and Sobotka?

But I'm pretty much with Tim. I'm kind of done with the Paajarvi and Jaskin experiments in the top 9. I'm willing to try Bennett, but he doesn't need to be in the top 9. Sundqvist could also be a great 4th liner once Brodziak and Upshall are gone. All of them are playing in the top 9 out of necessity, not because they are good enough to be there.

Blues aren't getting Duschene. They have no first round pick to deal and I don't see him dealt within the division. They'll have to hope Thompson or Kostin is ready sooner than they had hoped.

The lineup looked deep before training camp, now it looks awful unfortunately

Maybe...but I won't believe it until I see what the actual return is. I'm saying right now without knowing anything going behind closed doors....there is not a better offer on Sakic's table then my proposed deal.
