Turn the case into a sideshow. Make the testimony of all the players in the case be a matter of record in the media before the case goes to trial. Taint the evidence and testimonies in any way possible so that no jury can be counted on to have no biases and the court can neither convict or acquit the alleged perpetrator.

Apparently, Kane's lawyer is famous in the Porn World for creating the "The Cambria List". I apologize in advance for some of the following language.

On Jan. 18, 2001, Adult Video News reported on the so-called "Cambria List." Paul Cambria, a longtime attorney for the porn industry, was involved in the list's preparation. The list is controversial within the industry and interpretations differ on how it was meant to be applied. Some in the industry say it represents guidelines for the box-covers of adult videos, not for the sex acts they depict. Nevertheless, there is wide agreement that the Cambria List shows how the adult industry is seeking to be more careful, fearing a potential crackdown on pornography by the Bush administration.

Actually, I deleted the list, as it's just too graphically worded.

I guess Patty Kane never heard those useful warnings that "the choice of a lawyer is an important one and should not be based solely upon advertisement." His choice of a lawyer just makes him seem even more "rape-y." Maybe there is a consideration here that I'm not getting but I think he could have chosen his representation a little more wisely.

Reading up on the lawyer, he's known for making the nonredeemable look presentable, which is probably a good quality to have in a lawyer when this thing reaches it's next stage, his probable arrest.

exactly. Who are 'we' talking about now, and as SK mentioned, if you fuck up the case so badly publicly, then all sides are hard to be believed. Unless there is some substantial physical evidence, this case will be a bust (again, presuming from my end that he his guilty).

If the DNA test comes back to be Patrick (both the rape kit and/or the tested bite marks), he'll be arrested shortly after, as there is NO WAY the Buffalo PD can avoid it. At that point, Kane's attorney will either focus on getting her to not prosecute (i.e payoff to not testify, thus not allowing the prosecution to proceed), or trash her enough in the media to make a trial difficult to win.

The truly sad part is that if this (rape) in fact did happen, she'll be labeled a gold digger/whore if she settles out of court, or she'll be labeled a liar/whore by the opposition before and during the trial. Of course if not true, Patrick isn't without escape either, as he'll be labeled a rapist by some regardless of how this ends.

There is nothing better about believing the girl's claim. We are spectators who can only speculate. One speculation isn't more morally justifiable than the other in this instance.

I know I'm biased against Kane, but I think those articles are some of the worst that I have ever read. They really reach. If the girl is an evil genius and knows she's going to cry rape and delete her social media accounts, why the hell is she going to tweet song lyrics that would give her away? The headline, "Patrick Kane's Alleged Victim Sang Good Bye to Twitter", is just spreading misinformation. There is absolutely no proof that is what she was doing when she tweeted song lyrics. The headline asserts it as a fact. That kind of misinformation is exactly why a potential rape victim's identity is kept secret. The Niagra Falls Reporter seems to not understand why it is important to do so "even though Kane...is front page news across the country as a result of the rape allegation."
Agree with everything you said here, zilch.

Kane's defense will try to turn this into a circus, which they have already started. They will try to make this case very convoluted, and they will really try to get the focus off Patrick and put the spotlight on this lady's character, social media accounts and past. This lawyer seems like scum, and it is a shame that this is what "justice" has become, a circus.

Just read today from The London Free Press:

Two weeks ago, Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane was removed as cover boy and spokesperson for an iconic hockey video game.

Now, his former junior team will pull his name from a place of honour at their upcoming OHL training camp.

The London Knights, who hit the ice next Tuesday at Budweiser Gardens, had planned to divide their 80 players into four squads named for Corey Perry (white), Rick Nash (black), David Bolland (green) and Kane (gold). But with the 26-year-old NHLer the subject of an on-going police investigation for an incident that occured at his home in Hamburg, N.Y. this summer, the gold-wearing skaters will instead carry the banner of another former Knights great.

"We're going to change the name and there will not be a Team Kane at training camp," London GM Basil McRae said.

Kane has not been charged with a crime. According to the Buffalo News, he has met with investigators as part of the rape allegations against him.

In June, he celebrated his third Stanley Cup title in six years with the Hawks.

Video-game maker EA Sports originally intended to feature the Buffalo native, along with Chicago captain Jonathan Toews on the cover of its popular 2016 edition, but dropped him because of the investigation.

Eight years ago, Kane played his lone season in London and led the OHL in scoring with 62 goals and 145 points in 58 games. He was named the Canadian Hockey League rookie of the year and was the first overall pick in the 2007 NHL draft.

Since his big-league arrival, he has been one of the NHL's best players and a standout with the United States national team. He scored the game-winning goal in overtime of Game 6 in the 2010 Stanley Cup final against Philadelphia and won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 2013.

The Knights open their 2015-16 training camp with registration on Monday, followed by scrimmages Tuesday-Thursday (8 a.m.-4:50 p.m. Tuesday/Wednesday and 9-11 a.m. Thursday) at the Bud.

The scrimmages are open to the public and fans are asked to enter through Gate 4 off Dundas St.
