This thread has made me lose respect for some of my fellow Blues fans because of their victim blaming. I wonder what they would think of these victim blaming comments if it was their daughter claiming she was raped?

I heard someone refer to a similar situation on social media and the person referred to it using a slightly different phrase; they called them the "Twitter Pitchfork Mafia." It's a touchy subject. I initially just let this feed into my hatred for Kane because I thought that's what good fans do. I was surprised to see so many people "defending" him, but they make some good points. This could all be bullshit. But it's equally likely, at this point, that a girl was raped. Rape is a step down from murder in my opinion. An atrocious crime to commit. Nothing is conclusive yet so speculation is abound. This is true whether you are sticking up for the unknown girl or the well known Kane.

I guess I foolishly believed we could all just join in on hating Kane, but I guess that's not the right thing to do. I guess what I'm trying to say right now is that there is no "right thing to do". We are just spectators at this point. Everyone's perceptions are unique as usual so why do we have to keep condemning one another?

Does anyone else find it interesting how secretive the police are being with this? Usually more info starts to get out one way or another.

But, even though Stoll was also caught with X and cocaine he has a new contract extension. The point being (and if I'm wrong 39 please feel free to correct anything I've gotten wrong) the within the NHL there seems to be no standard and that players are going to be treated differently after getting in trouble based on their importance to their team and if they are 'living up' to their contract.

Ya, it's starting to look really bad for Kane. Nothing will swing back to kick you in the ass harder if you or your friend are caught in a lie after a crime like this. Now they'll be seen as trying to cover up a crime, thus people will now think that the crime must have happened.

While trying to remain neutral on this, this story pretty much puts me in the "he raped her" camp. Playing and coaching in the NCAA, you get to know the type of girl who would try a stunt like setting someone up (I've had MANY conversations with players about this, not necessarily rape, but similar), and if this story is accurate, this girl simply doesn't meet that criteria. It's just my opinion,

Whether any of this is true or not (which some of I doubt is, especially the "settlement" part) the cops did a pretty piss poor job of protecting the victim. Seems to me like everyone in Buffalo knows who she is

Tim, this story is shit, and seriously reaches or just throws out wild conjecture, and I'm a bit surprised you posted it. There is NOTHING in this story (other than his conjecture) that points to her/his guilt or innocence, but he is obviously trying to steer the ready to the former.

And where does it say that's she's known in hockey circles, or that she's dated Bills football players? Also, if she's dated rich athletes in the past, why didn't she try to pull this stunt then?

Finally, if the DNA comes back as his, he will be charged if she wishes him to be, period. Why, because there are obvious signs of force, she said he did it, she was obviously there, and if the DNA shows that it was him, the police will HAVE to charge him.

It was in one of the many articles that I read today when clicking on those links. They take you to other stories. I didn't post all the links just a couple of them.
