You suck at that, too.

Facing Colorado, that would be great news!
I wasn't expecting Krug back at all, so any possibility is a huge plus. I'm also glad the series doesn't start until Tuesday. An extra day of rest for our beat up d-core is a good thing. I know Colorado has had more rest, but in the playoffs, I do believe there's such a thing as too much rest.
2018-2019 Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues. And I was alive to see it happen!

I think they will go with seven in game one and see how it goes in the altitude.

They need to be on MacKinnon every second of every game.

I might stick with 7 D even if Krug or Scandella can play. They won't be near 100% I assume, and I think the D are more likely to get beat up than the forwards. The risk there of course is if you lose a forward during a game you're in a tough spot. Short of that, I feel as though a 7th D even as an insurance policy probably brings more to the table than Brown/Walker/whoever. It'll be an interesting decision and will likely hinge on how healthy Krug and Scandella are. Scandella's injury seems like one that is less likely to be aggravated by physical play, and more about getting enough time and rest. Krug is going to have a big target on that Blue Note if/when he returns.
...but whatever, the Blues won the Cup!!!!!

If a player goes down, it is a lot easier to redistribute the workload for the forwards than it is the defense.

we are so blessed with quality NHL coverage in our local paper. gordo has issued his end-of-season grades for forwards, defensemen, management, and goalies. here's a snippet:
STLtoday wrote:Jordan Binnington

His season started well. It was ending well, too, until Kadri’s collision left him with a season-ending knee injury. Binnington looked like his old self back in October when he went 5-1 with a 2.52 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage. He was pretty good in April, too, winning five straight starts before taking the loss in the final game of the regular season. Then he really got his swagger back in the postseason while going 4-1 with a 1.72 ERA and a .949 save percentage. But in between...what happened? Starting with a 4-3 overtime loss against Nashville on Nov. 11, Binnington fell into a months-long performance rut. The Blues hope they don’t see that again.

Grade: B-
i mean, can you believe all those runs that binner let in? what a slouch pitcher.

I had read some of it the other day. Looked like he was pretty lenient on the grades for the most part.

Did he? Good catch.
Did some hard hitting investigation on this:

Year Team Touch Cup Result
2021 Habs No Loss
2020 Stars No Loss
2019 ? No Win
2018 Vegas Yes Loss
2017 Preds No Loss
2016 Sharks No Loss

I think the big takeaway is that if you want to win the Cup you should probably come out of the East or play a disco song after every win.
...but whatever, the Blues won the Cup!!!!!

Yeah, but somebody has to lose the final so I'm not sure that's the way to do it.

How bout who touched the Conference Trophy and won? Any of those?

The "curse" doesn't apply if your team won a Cup recently, so Tampa last year and the Pens in 2017 wouldn't count. The Caps touched it in 2018 and went on to beat the shit out of Vegas. Being the better hockey team is usually enough.

In the video I posted about this, Sakic is the one who told him to touch the trophy.

At least some of the 2021-22 Blues get a trip to the Finals: their AHL affiliate Springfield Thunderbirds won the Eastern Conference Game 7 by a score of 4-0 over Montreal affiliate Laval Rocket on Wednesday night. Charley Sideburns earns the shutout victory, and Dakota Joshua scored twice, sending their team to the Calder Cup championship round to face former Blues affiliate the CHI Wolves. The best-of-7 Finals series starts on Sunday @ Chicago.
