It's nice when people don't overthink the obviously correct decision.
Hope Schenn gets an A.
Re: O'Reilly to be Named Captain
2Thinking Schenn and Schwartz for the A, but maybe they throw one Parayko's way. Sanford robbed, IMO.

Happy for ROR; great choice and should be a great "C" for the Blues the next few years. Go win us another Cup Ryan!

Re: O'Reilly to be Named Captain
4As if Bortz could bully Sanford. Sanford showed leadership by letting Bortz hit him with those pillow punches and not fighting back because if he had walked through that door, he knew he would've severely hurt Bortz and obviously the team too. That's leadership. That's my captain.bradleygt89 wrote: Mon Dec 21, 2020 10:46 amDid Bortz take his lunch money again?Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Mon Dec 21, 2020 9:30 am Thinking Schenn and Schwartz for the A, but maybe they throw one Parayko's way. 6Official:
Schenn, Parayko and Tarasenko get As.
Schenn, Parayko and Tarasenko get As.
...but whatever, the Blues won the Cup!!!!!
Re: O'Reilly to be Named Captain
7But will Vladi be sitting on his As again, while the rest lead on the ice?
Re: O'Reilly to be Named Captain
8As far as I'm concerned, that "C" hasn't looked like it belonged on that sweater more since Sudsy wore it. Great (if not obvious) choice.
Re: O'Reilly to be Named Captain
9Yeah, Sutter really was the epitome of a Captain.MissouriMook wrote: Wed Dec 23, 2020 11:44 amAs far as I'm concerned, that "C" hasn't looked like it belonged on that sweater more since Sudsy wore it. Great (if not obvious) choice.
Re: O'Reilly to be Named Captain
10Can't they hand out as many A's as they want? How can Schwartz not get one?
Re: O'Reilly to be Named Captain
11The current NHL Rulebook (ref. Rule 6) imposes a maximum of (3) Alternate Captains per team. But if the Team Captain is playing, there can only be (2) A's designated for that game. The way that Rule reads (very convoluted), it makes me wonder whether the League has modified it for this season.BillP. wrote: Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:16 pmCan't they hand out as many A's as they want? Re: O'Reilly to be Named Captain
12The "A" for Tarasenko will most likely stand for "Absent". So Schwartz will probably get it in his place anyway. Maybe the Blues reasoned this.JMC-STL wrote: Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:36 pmThe current NHL Rulebook (ref. Rule 6) imposes a maximum of (3) Alternate Captains per team. Re: O'Reilly to be Named Captain
16Glad to see Schenn got an A, but O'Reilly was obviously the logical choice for the C.
Re: O'Reilly to be Named Captain
17Tarasenko's A is reminescent of when they gave the C to Hull, hoping it would make him think about something other than himself.
Re: O'Reilly to be Named Captain
18Little-known Blues History Trivia ... Petro lost his "C" briefly after Jamie Benn sat on him. It stuck to the ice, but luckily the Zamboni driver scraped it up with minimal damage to the patch (if not to the owner) and gave it to the Blues equipment manager. There was a short reinstatement/reattachment ceremony held in the locker room post-game, making AP27 the 22nd Blues captain.BluesSK wrote: Wed Dec 23, 2020 4:58 pmWhat did we miss?STLBlueshistory wrote: Wed Dec 23, 2020 3:21 pmPietrangelo the 21st Captain to O'Reilly the 23rd Captain in Blues history.
I'll leave it to T.C.'s discretion whether this post better belongs in the "Random Blues history / memories thread."

23Glad to see ROR with the “C”, well deserved.. Guys the hardest working player in the league, that’s what got him kicked out of Buffalo..

Tarasenko disappointed he’s not Captain
Re: O'Reilly to be Named Captain
25Yep. In Dallas, Hitch simply gave him an ultimatum. Fit into the defensive scheme, or sit on the bench. Unlike in St. Louis, Dallas ownership stood behind the coach, leaving Hull with no leverage. When he went to Detroit, according to Hull, Bowman wouldn't even talk to him, which had to have been intimidating.BillP. wrote: Thu Dec 24, 2020 8:46 amDidn't work At least not until he left the Blues and he was no longer "THE" guy.barnburner wrote: Wed Dec 23, 2020 6:28 pm Tarasenko's A is reminescent of when they gave the C to Hull, hoping it would make him think about something other than himself.
