Tuuka out

Rask calls it. Says he's going home, somethings more important than hockey, like family. Takes guts to stand on principle. I think there's a lot more of this sentiment out there then we know.

It's pretty obvious that most of the Blues players would rather be back home.

If the Blues don’t like “bubble life”, they’re being very efficient about getting themselves out of that situation!

He should have opted out in the first place and so should have other players if they didn't want to be there.

I wouldn't have had a problem with it. It really puts an asterisk on the whole thing right now though.

I agree with his statement that without the fans it doesnt feel like playoff hockey.

Ill add to that idea that it feels like refs have a quota of penalties to call in a season and are dictating the flow of the games.

I WANT to get into these games, but it definitely feels....forced

Tuuka for what it’s worth. He’s an idiot. If he felt that way, then he shouldn’t of gone to begin with. But once your there with the boys, once you commit to go to battle with them, you stick it out to the end. Like Tim said, Fuck him.

Yes. My guess is that he won't be with Boston next year. He damn sure shouldn't be.

Agree completely. The Blues should of also opted out, and I'm beating a dead horse.

The Blues have decided to opt out as a team...this way there are no hard feelings.
In my response to Tukka...I feel he quit on his team. With that said , if there is. Real situation for him at home then all would be forgiven. I also like to think that Marchand told him...”if you don’t want to be here....get the fuck out”

Tukka is also paid a salary that allows him to deal with shit like this. He’s got a privilege that most people wish they had.

The few things I read made it sound like the team has known all along that this was a possibility. If a player didn't opt out by that pre-bubble deadline, they can still opt out only with the teams permission. There were several comments about this not being a surprise. Not condoning or justifying it, just stating what I read.

All that being said, anyone think that Tuuka might just start a trend among other players? Personally, I have a lot of respect for a guy that puts family first, but, that's just the average Joe. Here, we're talking about a team sport as well as what some would say is the most important position on the team. Not only a team sport, but the playoffs. That's an even bigger kick to the balls. I really see both sides, but still wonder if this is the last "defection" from the bubble we see.

No matter how they spin this bubble thing , it’s probably a mental prison of hell for a lot of these guys .

And an extraordinary burden for their families under unique circumstances. I wouldn't be surprised if Rask buckled as much to pressure from back home as to emotions inside The Bubble.

Take it for what it’s worth but lots of speculation about Rask and maybe other Bruins players being involved with a former NESN reporter...going back to last year.

Might make for some “even more” intense hockey. Guys will be amped to let out that aggression.

No amount of $$$ or nannies or anything else replaces the need of a parent to be there for your child. Hockey is a game. Children are a parents life.
Whelp I rushed the judgement based on past performance (Tuuka going nuts on the ice after a loss, or saying stupid stuff during and/or after a loss). My bad Tuuka, hope all is well with the Rasks.

What's wrong Tim, you need to see a Dr's note or a death certificate before you believe a hockey player has to leave to be there for their child? Don't remember anyone here giving Barbs shit about missing games to go home for the birth of his child. Sorry, but it is disappointing that some people think that $$$ solves all kinds of shit, or that 'celebrities/athletes' etc don't have to deal with the same shit us common folk do. You give passes to all the time to players for their on ice performance, why not give it to them and believe them for the off ice shit too? Not every hockey player's life is scandalous...sometimes it's just regular human shit, and there isn't any reason not to believe Tuuka that he had to be there for his daughter. But I'm sure the Enquirer will have the real story out soon...

Just weird timing ....he said his heart wasn’t in it and all his teammates said they thought his leaving was coming and weren’t really shocked. So now it’s an emergency with his daughter...could be but the timing sure seems strange. Seems like a spin to me.
As far Barby we knew he was leaving beforehand, it’s a totally different situation.
You’re entitled to your opinion , just like I am.
