I was thinking about that myself. Jordie Benn is a free agent and would be a great bottom pairing guy IMO. He was +22 with 128 blocked shots and 124 hits last year and only made 1.1mil
Good call Matty Ice! And as we talked about during lunch, what about Luke Schenn coming here to entice his brother to stay? Could Army be thinking that. And I'm still putting a vote in for Brouwer. He's cheap, he's someone Army is familiar with and we all know Army is partial to familiarity. Troy had177 hits last year and scored 12 goals. And I saw him play last year, the guy can still bury his chances. He would be a Berube bowling ball here as a role player.

As for Pavelski...I hope the Stars sign him to a 7 year deal....they will get like 2 years out of him and then that contract will be ugly for them.
I believe Duchene already has a house in Nashville. He is really into country music, and well that's the place to be. He's going to Nashville.

Would Luke Schenn play/ make our top 6? As for Brouwer, no thanks. He was already slow, when he left STL last. I want youth and speed in the 4 lines of forwards. Kyrou will make the team. That is a big +. I'd be very weary of any FA signings.

I don't mind Jordie Benn. Blues don't really have any youth on defense about to make the jump.

I'm not advocating for Troy to be a starter. He'd be a valuable plug for injuries. If Maroon can play for Berube, then Troy can fit in too. I would just like one actual heavy dude added to the St. Louis Bruise. I'm excited to see Kyrou next year. He should be ready to put his best foot forward.

I guess all of this fits more under the 2019-2020 Blues thread, but whatever they end up doing, I hope they get players that fit the mold of what they did this year. They need to keep developing this team identity of being tough on the boards and having a physical D. I think a guy like Brouwer would actually make sense if they don't end up keeping Maroon. Maroon's size was key in the Dallas series. Brouwer actually had 2 more goals than Maroon in the regular season and has proven he turns it on in the playoffs.

Yea, T.C. will probably move this.

I think Brouwer could be a good depth guy. I just worry about him taking minutes away from young players. It all depends on the contract I suppose.

I think the Blues need to get faster and forecheck hard. That along with their puck possession was their offensive bread and butter. More of that, please. I just question Brouwer and Maroon being redundant.

If you want to reinforce the bottom 6, what about Brandon Tanev? How much will he cost? Somewhere between 1-2 mill? He's fast, grinds possession and 27. I think he'd fit well into the Blues style of play, but he does get dinged up over the course of a season it seems.

Holy Cow, Tanev with 278 hits last year. Sign him up!!! :)

Just saw on TSN that the Flames are eyeing Maroon. Flames are a joke. Maroon is slower than Brouwer. No way can Maroon fit in with the Flames. Only if the Flames completely change their style and I don't see that happening. Wouldn't be surprised if the Flames fall backwards next year. They're lost. They should keep the style they have and try and tweak it a little with guys that can both skate and hit. Not a snowplow like Maroon.

Yea, Flames can't expect Gio to keep up the Norris pace again, right? They do have some young talent that should continue to progress. Maybe they want some net front presence?

If I were them, I'd look to upgrade at goalie. Smith is a UFA now. Rittich had a solid year, but I'd want some insurance if I was Calgary.

Sounds like the Kessel situation in Pittsburgh has become a huge mess. Management saying Kessel's lack of commitment to defense/backchecking has lead to Malkin becoming a worse defensive player. Apparently management thinks Kessel is a bad influence on Jake Guenzel too. Apparently Kessel is taking Guenzel and other young players to the casino on off days the day before a game, and Sullivan doesn't like it

Some team with cap space is probably going to end up fleecing the Pens in a Kessel trade.
