So long Edmundson.
Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
4I'd think Del Zotto more likely is gone
Now now, the Canadian Government has apologized for Bryan Adams on SEVERAL occasions!
Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
5Me too. I'm guessing Gunner wanted to finish his career here, and was willing to take the pay cut.BluesSK wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 3:57 pm That's about half his previous salary. I'm a bit surprised at this deal.
Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
6You have Dunn, JayBo, Gunnar on the left side. I can’t see them paying Eddy 3+ million to be injury insurance.

Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
7It seems we've almost always got at least one defenseman out injured, though, and often two or three. I think Edumundson still has upside. He's younger than Parayko, and remember how everyone was trying to get rid of him a year or so ago? Edmundson a big, physical, shut-down type defenseman who turns 26 tomorrow. With Bouwmeester possibly retiring after next season, they'll surely want a solid, shut-down D going forward. I actually think Edmundson would be used ahead of Bortuzzo, and possibly Gunnar at times, depending on whether they want toughness or offense for a particular game.
Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
8I see gunnar as the injury insurance honestly as he is older and more injury prone.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:32 pmYou have Dunn, JayBo, Gunnar on the left side. I can’t see them paying Eddy 3+ million to be injury insurance.
With the lower price he agreed to I see him as our #7 even tho pie played much better next to him

Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
9Even the fancy stats seem to like Gunnarsson:
Less than $2M for a net-second pairing guy is a pretty damn good deal.

10I’m not say Eddy is no good or anything. But his best value to this team is as a trade chip.RAFritchey wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 5:03 pm It seems we've almost always got at least one defenseman out injured, though, and often two or three. Gunnar - Petro
JayBo - Parayko
Dunn - Borts
A bunch of different options to choose from after.

Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
11I love that they were able to keep him in St. Louis. I know he missed a lot of games due to injury but when he did play he played very well and always contributed.
Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
12Damn we got him on a great contract. Dude could have easily gotten 2-3 years at 3 million per on the market IMO.
Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
13Guy scores an OT winner in the Final and takes a team friendly deal. I'm not saying we build him a statue, but I'm not not saying it.
...but whatever, the Blues won the Cup!!!!!
Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
14That's a great hometown discount for The Blues. Gunnar taking one for the team. Hoping he can stay healthy.

Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
18So by comparison, Chicago is paying $4.5 million for Calvin de Haan. Suck a dick, Stan Bowman!
Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
19So we're paying, what, $3.125 mil for BOTH Borts and Gunnar combined? Plus another $3.25 for JBo?
LESS than $6,5 mil for three VERY solid veteran defensemen. GREAT moves by Armstrong. And do you know what the best part is?
All three of them have Stanley Cup winning experience!

Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
21That's an awesome signing, looking back on the year I cant think of any glaring mistakes he made. I can't say that about Eddy.
Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
22I just noticed hes 32, I didn't realized he was that old. In his career he's made like 22mil, maybe he's just sick of moving and wants something solid to hang on to and come home to. Or he just likes pissing with Chief.
Re: Blues re-sign Gunnar
24No, all of those weren't part of that trade, they all just happened the same day. We got a 4th back in the Gunnarsson deal, which we used to draft Husso.T.C. wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 7:16 am
wow. so, polak for gunnar, barbie and blais? masterclass in fleecing.
The Barbashev pick was from the deal that sent Perron to Edmonton (thank god Barbashev has panned out) and the Blais pick was a sixth rounder we got from Boston for Wade Redden, of all people.

I love how every story about Carl Gunnarsson, from now on, will mention the Boston Pee Party.
