He's dropped off considerably since the playoffs started. He was a nice #6 in the regular season and a pleasant surprise. Pretty steady and could chip in some offense. In the playoffs everyone has increased their intensity level times about 10 and he's still in regular season mode and hasn't been able to keep up.
Oleksiak needs to get healthy before we head back to St Louis.

I know it happens all the time and it needs to end. Bortuzzo just takes it to another level.

Is Dowling really better than Val, Pitlick or Gurianov? I can't figure out what Dowling does. I guess he doesn't really make mistakes but he's not good at anything. He's not physical, he rarely shoots and when he does it's not pretty, not fast, not big, not a shutdown guy. I feel like he's just out there. On a team that desperately needs scoring at times I can't believe he's really the best option.

Ya complete agree. This was such a rollercoaster of a game, there were positives to take out of it but it's hard to see with such a disappointing finish.

I know im sounding like sooky fan after a loss.
But i have no confidence in Bishop to bounce back.
I know Monty will back him and he will start game 4, but i have no confidence in him not allowing 3 or 4 goals again.

There's something about us getting leads on home ice that causes him to become shaky suddenly under the pressure
I had this same feeling after we lost to Nashville in game 3 tho so I'll just wait to see what happens in game 4

On the bright side, Heiskanen was ****ing incredible. Best player on the Stars tonight

If he starts using his size as an advantage again he'll be fine.

Call me crazy, but I think Bish will bounce back (and we get a good showing from the second line and big boys) and we win game 4 similar to the Nsh series.

Top line has gotta show up more still. Seguin had a tap in empty net goal off a beautiful Heiskanen pass and Radulov scored on the PP from Spezza. They didn't generate anything themselves.
Jamie Benn was invisible other than his usual ****ty turnovers and clueless plays

Klingberg and Miro were both good tonight. I thought Spezza was good for the role he was in.
Benn and Seguin outside of one tap in late were awful. Benn was completely invisible.
Monty has to figure out that 3rd D pair because Fedun just isn't getting it done right now.

I only caught the 3rd and didn't like what I saw from 30. It just felt like the Stars were hanging on and that getting to OT would have been huge. Unfortunately they didn't get the timely saves this game. Be better next game.

Such an embarrassing performance by Lindell. Doesn't even help that he's a great hockey player. Every true hockey fan out there hates clowns like him! Should be traded at the 1st opportunity...

Well it was embarassing yes but no he should not be traded.

What exactly did Lindell do that was so awful? On the game winner, Maroon's play - taking him out - was interference. It should have been called - it cost the game - and the refs missed it. Blown call. Major blown call.
That is, when Maroon took him out, the two of them were not playing the puck. The puck was no where around. So Maroon just threw him to the ice and then used the open space to make the game winning play on the other side of the net. In any other world that should be 2 minutes on Maroon.
That said, you want Bishop to make that save. What is he doing down on one knee, off his angle (what angle actually?) and not square to the puck? Terrible goaltending on that play.
Poor 3d period by Bishop in general. Is it possible he was hurt earlier in the period on that awkward play when he was bent back and slow to get up?

Lindell deserves to be called out, I hope I never see him dive again. That was embarrassing to watch as a Stars fan.

I disagree I don't think it was interference. Montogomery could have challenged the call but he didn't.

I've never been so frustrated with Lindell. He played like he was still wearing his skate guards out there. I don't know if he was just sick of the Blues physicality off the puck or what but that **** is embarrassing in the playoffs. The weaker team loses and Lindell looked like the weakest player on the ice.

Lindell's reputation

Fedun is awful. If Oleksiak can't get back by Wednesday, play Bayreuther. I'd rather see Hanley than Fedun. No Way they'd play Honka. Anybody but Fedun.

I would kill to see Bayreuther get in there. Fedun has played himself off the team. Lovejoy sucks as well but he can at least PK.

Unfortunate loss but a good game anyway

- Jamie's neck/chest since the Miles Wood hit
- Whatever is wrong with Rads, I can't remember exactly what
- Janny's ankle from the Preds series
- Bish (anything, I feel like he is part duct tape at this point)

It wasn't interference on the goalie - just common garden interference (in my eyes, not meaning to be argumentative here, just explaining). So I don't think it was reviewable by anyone - either by the refs or by Toronto (seeing that the non call was in the final 2 minutes of the game). Had it been goalie interference, it could have been reviewed. Just a pure missed call. You can't knock people around except when playing the puck. You can of course continue your motion in a certain direction and contact is allowable to hold your position on the ice. But Maroon pushed off there, he went the other way after throwing Lindell to the ice. Pretty clear case of a minor penalty for interference (if I am right). But the rules don't allow for the review of calls or non calls of that variety.

To me it looked like bish was playing injured . He was barely moving and had seemed slower each game this series . He's always been a guy that plays the percentages but that's literally all he was doing last night . That being said , the whole team got owned last night IMO , even if bish stood on his head they didn't deserve to win . The maroon goal we had 3 guys out high , even if Lindell got knocked down there should've been someone deep to cover for him .

I doubt Bishop is healthy. Lot of wincing and extra stretching and he just doesn't look right. I'd bet in the regular season he'd have taken himself out at some point and Khudobin would have played the last few. Could be wrong but he's not been as good.

I noticed the wincing, too. However, he might have also just been tucking the puck in tight. And, he really hasn't been getting up slowly, either. I hope we are noticing those little things because of our expectations, based in his history, of him being hurt in the playoffs more than once. Sucks for us if he is injured, even slightly and not a true 100%.
Benn still has stone hands, probably because of some injury. Seguin and Rads look a little slow, goals last night notwithstanding.
Everyone knew which ever teams best players were the best players would win the series, and right now, it ain't us.

I find myself very conflicted this morning. Lindell should not have dived period. Never mind that it's just plain wrong, it makes you look very weak. You have to stand up to physical challenges, and in this instance, for whatever reason, he took the low road.
However, the media this morning are just insane. I didn't realize that Lindell killed the Kennedys and MLK, caused Pearl Harbor and will likely be the death of Western Civilization. Apparently he has a "track record" of this kind of thing according to some, and his "career will never recover" according to others. The pile on has been strong and hard.
It's going to take a while for Esa to recover from this but I don't personally believe we should trade him. That would be an overreaction.
I'm also going to throw this question out there; As this is not normal behavior for Esa, what caused him to so suddenly and visibly do this in Game 3 of this series? I think this needs to be explored............

My favorite part is how diving always 100% excuses the offense that warranted the dive.

It's an easy answer. He's not the first to dive, and he won't be the last. Massive overreaction from anybody that says trade him.

Being at the game, my guess is frustration in not getting calls. Yes, Stars ended up with more PP's, but Benn got high sticked, Polak did and they didn't call it until crowd goes nuts, they see replay of what was done right in front of them, etc. Earlier, Spezza tripped, no call, Benn gets called a few minutes later for tripping. Granted, it was near the goal while the Spezz trip was in neutral zone.
Hey, a blatant cross check away from the puck is a blatant cross check, Esa trying to get the call, especially on the second one. Its not like its in front of the net and in a continuous scrum. Not to mention the rabbit punch to his face that could be roughing, which the internet is just calling his third dive, and getting pushed from behind by Maroon, who he didn't see, on the final goal as his 4th.
Someone said he had one other embellishment call this year, but that wouldn't be a pattern. Not sure anyone has said to trade him. Not like the old Mike Riberio writhing on the ice in MTL that got him traded to the Stars, although he did smile at Bortuzzo after the first cross check.
I think any talk of Esa being a top tier D man will quiet down for a long time, now.
