ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Blues announced today plans to expand their charitable efforts in the St. Louis community and a new name for their charitable trust, formerly named The Blues 14 Fund.

Under its new name, Blues for Kids Foundation, the trust will have the mission to build St. Louis’ future by positively impacting programs and services that improve health and wellness of the youth in St. Louis Area. Blues for Kids will focus on education, health and wellness and youth hockey outreach.

In the important effort to continue Doug Wickenheiser’s legacy and celebrated history of the Blues’ community efforts, the Blues 14 Fund will continue to serve as the platform for the Blues’ cancer care and awareness initiatives under the Blues for Kids umbrella. ...

The St. Louis Blues have been proud to play an integral role in the St. Louis community since the organization’s first season in the National Hockey League in 1967. Blues for Kids will allow the Blues to build upon that tradition while focusing on improving the health and wellness of area youth. The club will continue to utilize current players, its strong alumni network and key partners to leverage their resources and improve the lives of children in need to create a bright future for St. Louis. ...

To date, the organization has given more than $4 million in cash and in-kind donations to the St. Louis community. This season, Blues for Kids programs and initiatives will reach more than 70,000 children and give more than a half-million dollars to the Greater St. Louis area this season, with plans to increase giving by 50 percent in the next three years. ...
