They should've blown the game they were leading with a chance to go up 2-1 in the series instead of the next game when they were down 2-1 in the series. Probably should've just snapped Kadri's stick and stabbed him with it right after Rosen knocked him into Binnington. The Avs PP is pretty good, but the refs might not make the call since there's little precedent for on ice murder after the 04-05 lockout.

Re: ‘22 playoffs thread
454NO! NO! NO! It looked much better for The Blues when they had won more games against The Stanley Cup winners than ANY other team they faced in The Playoffs. IF Tampa Bay wins The Cup, The Blues can't say they played better against The Cup winners than any other team. Now that The Lightning has won 2 games against them, we have to hope The Avs win the next game, so we can at least say that The Blues did just as well as the previous 2-time Cup winner against the eventual Cup winner.
The more competitive The Blues seem to be, the better for their reputation as a winning organisation, and ability to attract the best choice of players in free agency, and to be with the exceptions in no-trade clauses, and to keep our own veteran players from jumping to other teams, and for getting a better choice of coaches and management personnel to want to work for The Blues.

458The Avalanche are so good its taking an otherworldly type performance by Tampa just to keep this competitive.

Re: ‘22 playoffs thread
459Give Tampa credit. They ain’t fuckn around. They’re letting Makar and MacKinnon have their ice and they’re exchanging rushes and going toe to toe with them. Fuck playing a 1-4, we’re the Tampa Bay Lightning and we’re going to fuck you up. Not saying it’s going to happen, but that’s their attitude. They’re not going down without a fight and they’re more than willing to skate toe to toe with these guys. Some stretches of the action last night was entertaining as heck.Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Sat Jun 25, 2022 10:08 am The Avalanche are so good its taking an otherworldly type performance by Tampa just to keep this competitive.

464And that's when the wheels fell off the fragile psyche of the 2021-22 Blues. Otherworldly teams (if such an animal exists) find a way to win with the cards they're dealt, they don't fold & make excuses. This goes for fans, too.CaptSMRT wrote: Sat Jun 25, 2022 4:58 pmThis is what the Blues were doing and until they took out Binnington it was working...Dread_Pirate_Westley wrote: Sat Jun 25, 2022 11:02 am Saying a team is performing otherworldly is giving them credit haha

468I guess spoiler alert for a 4 year old movie that made a billion dollars domestically.
1-0 Bolts early. Super fun extremely high paced game so far.

Re: ‘22 playoffs thread
469And now Tampa is VERY close to blowing the series by not keeping their cool after a few consecutive calls don't go there way. Not saying they're wrong, but you've gotta have a better sense of the moment.

It’s the Blues fault. They didn’t take a stand from the beginning and instead they let Kadri get in their heads. If they fucked him up in the beginning like they should have, then everything might of been a different. End of story, play hockey. Instead, they did nothing and it was in their heads in Game 4 and they got tooled. Blues fucked themselves.
Re: ‘22 playoffs thread
473The Blues did as well against this year's Stanley Cup champs as the last 2 years' champs. Now, IF we can keep our nucleus together, trade of Scandella, AND add a solid defence man............
Re: ‘22 playoffs thread
474Makar has won the Hobey Baker, the Calder, the Norris, the Conn Smythe, the Stanley Cup - and isn’t even 24 years old. Holy fuck is this kid good.
I watched the third and the aftermath last night. I’ll say the same thing I said before in this thread - Tampa looked like a different class of team. Like, not even close. Looked like they had no will to win, no legs, no desire to compete, etc. They were waiting for the puck to come to them rather than going to get it. this year’s Avs has to be the most tenacious fore- and back-checking team i’ve ever seen. They are almost always first to the puck, and not just one of them - seemingly all of them at once due to their speed. So hard to believe that 5 years ago they were setting records for the worst NHL team ever. But i guess that gets you some high picks, eh? Like Makar.
