Really interesting article here with several players candidly discussing what living in the bubble was like.
Re: Anonymous players discuss bubble life
3It's become normal watching the empty arena games on TV, but the article is a nice reminder of how weird this all is.
...but whatever, the Blues won the Cup!!!!!
Re: Anonymous players discuss bubble life
4Maybe normal watching, but I get nowhere near normal enjoying. Though this is how I predicted NHL hockey would be in the foreseeable future: empty arenas with expanded camera coverage throughout the playing space, and the fans watching (and paying) from home. That's the elusive "new-normal" we're being programmed to accept.Dave's a mess wrote: Tue Sep 22, 2020 10:34 amIt's become normal watching the empty arena games on TV, but the article is a nice reminder of how weird this all is.

5Honestly, I thought I would hate watching games with no fans, but it hasn’t bothered me at all. Now for players stuck in Edmonton for 2 months......uggghhh

6Honestly, I think it sucks. It just seems so sterile.JMC-STL wrote: Tue Sep 22, 2020 12:12 pmMaybe normal watching, but I get nowhere near normal enjoying. I can't wait to go to another hockey game in person.
Re: Anonymous players discuss bubble life
7Uncomfortable? Fuck these pussies. I get being worried about your family. I bet none of these guys miss their families when they are in another city banging some puck bunny. If the NHL would have trucked in coke and whores into the bubble I bet the sadness level would have dropped.
Re: Anonymous players discuss bubble life
8it sounds like bait & switch by the NHL. promise a lot to get players to commit, then once they are there, don't bother to deliver. i'd be pissed too.

Just a Russian propaganda account
Re: Anonymous players discuss bubble life
10Naturally, life in the bubble would be more uncomfortable than what they are used to. On the other hand, they are not working for slave wages.
Uncomfortable is not awful.

12So they were supposed to get whores and coke and instead got magazines and Molson? Fuck that.T.C. wrote: Thu Sep 24, 2020 10:57 am it sounds like bait & switch by the NHL. promise a lot to get players to commit, then once they are there, don't bother to deliver. i'd be pissed too.

13Technically they were given that players don't get paid during the playoffs.barnburner wrote: Thu Sep 24, 2020 12:57 pm Naturally, life in the bubble would be more uncomfortable than what they are used to. On the other hand, they are not working for slave wages.

14Yes, but......keep in mind that the players continued to get paid during the lockdown, even though almost 20% of the season was cancelled.MissouriMook wrote: Thu Sep 24, 2020 3:51 pmTechnically they were given that players don't get paid during the playoffs.barnburner wrote: Thu Sep 24, 2020 12:57 pm Naturally, life in the bubble would be more uncomfortable than what they are used to.
