When Faulk was in Carolina, I thought he was awesome. Love his game. Just think the Blues style of play has forced him to adjust. His game is all about finesse. It's like Shattenkirk, put Faulk in Tampa and it would be a perfect match. Being with the Blues is an adjustment, but the good players always figure it out and his game will get more consistent here.
That's what I worry about; sometimes players are great in certain systems. Not to beat the Ryan Miller thing to death, again, but I think that was part of it with him; he just didn't have the ability to adjust to our system. Obviously that was a much shorter sample size, but we have seen that with other extremely talented players who come through here and other teams where the system just doesn't benefit their style of play and they go from star to bust. Look at how they were talking about Tanner Pearson last night; 30-40 point player in LA, then goes to Pit last season and struggles mightily. Goes to Van and has a career year with 45 points. Hell when traded last season he had almost as many points (12) in 19 games with the nucks as he did with 44 games with Pens (14).
I just don't see Faulk changing his game, and the Blues are never going to be a speed rush/finesse team. I'd love to warm up to him as Tim puts it, and I do NOT blame him for the Blues losing games, but it is frustrating even more so because you KNOW he is a good player, but has just not able to adjust to the Blues style. If he does and and puts up similar numbers to what he had in Carolina, then I'll be a big fan of his...hell, might even buy a Jersey of his to go with my Halak jersey
