This is the best time of the year to take a hockey break. I do it every year...primarily a Blues break. The only games on my list to watch the rest of this month...The games against the Flyers, Capitals, and Red Wings and then the last two games in April. Outside of that I’m taking a break to get ready for the playoffs.

Others may disagree, and I support you in your decision. I will think fondly of your idea while the Blues make me go to bed angry over games lost that truly should have been won through the end of the regular season.

Oh it’s not for everyone...it took me years to be able to really do this. The older I get the more I tend to get burned out easily. As much as I love hockey, There are times throughout the season where I personally start to feel like I’m being held hostage...like I can’t miss a game. I just got sick of that feeling , so at this time of year I take a break. Spend time doing some other things....do some things the wife wants to do, watch a little MLS, catch up on Netflix shows..etc. I know full well that April through June I’m going to be glued to the tv every night watching playoff hockey.

Middle of March to April is the time of year I like going to games in person. The weather is nicer, Junior hockey playoffs have just started and hopefully the local team will still be in the playoffs when I get home in a couple of weeks.

Are you sure you can make this strategy work this year, TIM? The international junior tournaments cancellation news is looking mighty bleak, and the ECAC hockey tourney quarterfinals series for Harvard @ RPI will be played without fans in attendance. Mrs. JMC 'n' me have all digits crossed for upcoming USHL home pairs in Waterloo & the Fox Valley. I think you're gonna need a road trip or two yourself to stretch you to NHL playoff action.

March madness and a sportsbook opening in the area will make it easier for me to not pay attention to hockey

Argosy Casino in Alton is opening a Sportsbook Monday at noon. It’s supposed to be pretty nice. Will be worth the 30-45 minute drive for me.
