I'm in. In St. Charles myself but pretty close to everything really. My usual spots are Redbirds or Field Box in Cave Springs. But a more central location is fine with me.

Ya I live in Collinsville .. Do you live here as well ? I am from Granite City thats were I went to school . But sadly Granite is a real Shit Hole full of crime and other things..
I still remember going over to play hockey as a kid in Granite City at the outdoor rink (roof, no sides, if I recall). That terrible smell in the air from the chemical plants or steel plants is something I’ll never forget!

The Rev has his Baywatch archives on first-gen Betamax carts. One 60-minute show per tape for ease of accessing specific episodes, and it keeps him from mixing them up with his vast collection of late 70's garage porn on VHS.

Ya most of that smell was Granite City Steel and the Nestle tea factory down on Adams street. And ya the rink is just a roof and the ends of the rink had tarps strung up to keep the wind out and cold out but it was still a very cold place to play. I remember those saturday & sunday 6 am games when it was 9 degrees and could not feel my toes lol..

Was there another outdoor rink like that in Cahokia? I played in an outdoor rink a bunch of times when I was younger, but I thought it was in Cahokia for some reason. Pretty fun to play in, but DAMN it was cold
KA-KAW!

I played at the old, outdoor Kirkwood rink when I was a wee lad. When we had those nasty, cold early morning games, we had parents inside the building with hair dryers. We would go inside after shifts and they would try to warm up your feet. Back then, it was just part of growing up. Today? It would be considered child abuse and everybody would get a trophy and reparations!

Screw the trophy. I’ll take the reparations though!

I played at the Kirkwood rink to. And there was Nothing over head.. But How I miss those days as a kid.. To be very honest we had some very good to great teams in Granite city. We played all of the good teams in St.Louis Valley - Kirkwood - Clayton - and so on .. We won a lot of hockey games from the age of 10 - 19 from Springfield ill. to Stienberg ..Played with a lot of very good players and had some great coaches Like Jake Hinterstir who is in the Missouri Hockey Hall of Fame.

Sadly I never played much more than street hockey. I was terrible at hockey and an awful skater. Decent basketball player though. My parents also refused to pay for hockey equipment too so there's that.

For the record, the U.S. Ice Sports Complex ice rinks never "collapsed"; they simply "subsided." Kinda like the Blues in Glendale last night. :?:
