Sure...that's 100% correct. He might have had no value for Berube but even with all his injuries and slow start, he had value to quite a few teams out there. At the end of the day, we gave him away to do him a favor. I understand it from Army's perspective and I'm sure he was asking for draft picks but Detroit wanted to move salary in return as i'm sure any other interested teams did. I don't believe for a second the Blues had any real interest in De La Rose....Army was hoping to gain some cap space with that move. Fabbri will likely resign with the Red Wings next season.....De La Rose will be long gone from this team next October.
I don't buy that. Why didn't we just waive Fabbri then to clear up the cap space?
because Army kept his word when he told Robby he would trade him

well, historically, we do have a record of trading people to the wings who then do very well.

They had a good segment on Monday's Blues Hockey Podcast (the one with River's and Kimble); and they made a couple good points from a previous player's POV; that Fabbri, for whatever reason (work ethic, skill, toughness, whatever) didn't have the trust of Berube AND that Fabbri didn't have the confidence in himself to perform within the Blues system, which had changed, along with his role, since 16/17 before he got hurt. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Fabbri missed out on having Yeo as his coach, so he went from Hitch, who trusted and liked his play to Berube, who sees this kid who has missed almost two years of play, and when he plays the 'hard, heavy, and fast' style that Berube likes, he gets injured again. I personally just don't think Berube was ever going to trust Fabbri. Whether that is good judgement based on the play of others Berube does trust (Sanford for example) is beyond my pay grade as a fan, and I trust that Berube and DA know what they are doing to keep us as a Cup contending team while the current core is viable.

The other point they made was that Fabbri should have tons of confidence now because the legendary Stevie Y just took a flyer on you and will be giving you more responsibility. Sometimes players just need a fresh start to maximize their potential, and since Fabbri already has his ring and Cup, he can now focus on 'individual success' as he said. Wish him the best, but I still don't think he tops 30 points this season :)

Fabs moving on was definitely the best thing to happen for him. Bottom line though...if he would have produced here when given the chance , Berube would have been more than happy to play him. It’s as simple as that.

Mark Seidel just said on Boomer’s show that Doug Armstrong did not want to trade Fabbri.

It is a shame the Fabbri could not stick in the line up.

The guy still hasn't proven himself yet. Still hasn't shown any signs of being an aggressive puck carrier at all.

Pretty much spot on. His "setup" on the GWG last night was just him flipping the puck to a guy in the neutral zone who skated in and scored on his own. Fabbri was about as relevant to the goal as I was, a witness. But alas, I wish him luck that he stays healthy and has a successful career.

What's Fabbri's potential? He has 15 points in 18 games. He's also a minus 11 in those games. Can he be a 60 point guy on a bad team going forward?

What I look at is he had one point in 9 games on a great team and was a -4.

Yep. Compare Fabbri with Kyrou. One recognized the changes in his game that were necessary to win a job on this team, the other just wanted to be handed a job because he had skill.
Hope Fabbri scores 50, and Kyrou gets to lift the Cup.

Detroit is the worst team in the league in goal differential last time I looked.....Athanasiou was like -33 and even Filppula was like -23 or so. That’s just a bad team overall. If Fabbri keeps scoring like he is he’s gonna get himself a multi year deal come July. Detroit the perfect spot for him...he doesn’t have to really worry about his two way game right now. Army did him a tremendous favor by sending him to the Wings.

Just a damn shame he got hurt the one season the Blues were bad. It would've been great to watch him put up 60 points as we missed the playoffs in 18.
