Just trying to drive home my point that i don't want to see Taylor Fedun play. Stars are 2:4 with him in the playoffs and 5:1 with him out of the lineup . Only game Stars lost with Fedun sitting in the pressbox was Game 3 against Nashville where they at least played very well.
In this series its 1:3 with Fedun in and 2:0 with Fedun not playing.
I'm nervous
I'm thrilled with how this season ended up turning out and I'm happy about how hard the team worked to get here and how they really turned things around but man if we lose tonight it's just too damn soon.
One thing I know for sure, is the boys better come ready to play tonight. No early goal against please.
I'd love for the team to win, but I've sort of already made my peace with a loss as well. I think most of my negative emotion was channeled towards the refs in game 6.
I also have a ridiculous amount of work to do in the next two weeks so a loss would certainly allow me to be more productive.
I share the same feelings as you guys, would obviously love a win but prepared if they come up short. This season has far exceeded my expectations and I'm so proud of this team and its effort. Only one thing left to do, leave it all out there tonight and whatever happens happens.

A few players seemed to be a little banged up and this game 7 is on the road, which they've been good at this postseason, but still.

Both teams have been better on the road, so the Stars have an edge here.
Also they're coming off a loss, and the stuff that happened to Bishop. I'd say it was unfair play when they didn't blow the whistle, and this ruined the game for the Stars. Player safety should always have first priority.
So they should be more aggressive tonight, and get this done.
Whoever gets two goals first wins. In all 12 playoff games so far, the team who gets to 2 goals first has won the game.
This is gonna be so sad if they lose this . That being said , I am happy I get to watch my team in a game 7 Second round playoff game . This is exciting . This is where they were 3 years ago , it would be so fitting for them to get to beat the blues in game 7 now .
Getting a 2 goal lead would be very ideal. Especially if its early. This team is not built to be chasing from behind and that's been clear all season long (although they've done a decent job at it it feels like)
But all I'm asking first is that can we pleaseeee not give up an early goal
Don't even need a two goal lead, literally just need to get to two goals first. The first goal is important, but getting that second is even more crucial.

STL has definitely noticed what I have all season and especially in the playoffs. Bishop doesn't protect his post and his back is always off it. They are just trying to fire it over his back with no angle.

Not enough chance generation is the reason for this discrepancy. It has little to do with amounts of actual penalties committed.

I mean they did need to overuse the better players . Our third paring and 4th line have been horrible all playoff long and surrendering a ton of goals even in limited minutes. I know +/- is a bad stat but our 3rd paring and fourth line have been getting eaten alive by both oppoents and are spotting a big minus each player.

Because refs don't want to call penalties because they fear doing so could affect the outcome of the game. Of course, not calling obvious stuff also affects the game, but they never think of it that way.

Preds in 6 was nice to see and unfortunately the deeper team won tonight. Definitely some things I wasn't happy with but like hairy said- nothing that really surprised me or that I wasn't happy about earlier in the season. On to the offseason!

I don't know. I think tonight it was a tactical thing. Game 7 on the road, conserve energy when you can, weather the storm, come at them when they show the first signs of fatigue. The Blues had a very strong will tonight and kept their game strong for a lot longer than the Stars anticipated.
Don't forget Benn had a chance similar to Cogliano earlier in the game and missed the wide open net

I mean at the very least Janmark and Pitlick can bring speed. Not the reason we lost the game, but it definitely would've helped rest the big guys a bit and made us faster and given us another line that's not a complete liability.
I would agree if they showed up at all in regulation. Weathering the first 5-10 minutes of the game is fine, rope-a-dope that if you have to, but they didn't show up until OT. Literally dominated for about 58-59 minutes in regulation. I've never seen that before in a playoff game. It's frightening.
Sorry Jamie Benn sucks, but look on the bright side - when is the last time the Stars had a disappointing end of the season where these threads weren't *****ing about the goaltending?
A couple of trades/signings this off-season and Dallas has a bright couple years ahead.

Dissapointing result, but Blues deserved the win. I enjoyed playoff hockey, especially when it looked like we weren't even going to make it to playoffs in the first place, to jump on the "Trade the whole team and fire everyone" train, especially when we don't know who was playing injured.

Lucic even at his best was a 50 point player and slow as ****. Not a good compareable . More like at a Getzlaf type situation. Doubt Benn falls completely off.
I wasn't comparing their styles of play, more of the situation, being stuck with 6 more years @ 9.5mil for a player that as of right now is a 50p winger, (he may rebound next season, effort doesn't make it seem likely, or continue his downward trajectory) is a bad place to be in.
Yeah and we're not getting out of that without taking some really hot garbage back thanks to the size of the contract and NMC that gives Benn the last say . Best hope is to ride it out for now and maybe look to use a compliance buyout if one comes along. Trade is an unrealistic option.

Watching Bishop the home town boy with one of the best playoff performances I have ever seen was gut wrenching.
On Benn and Seguin, its tough to lay the blame on these guys. The Stars just dont have enough secondary scoring....YET! Hintz and Dickinson really impressed me, not to mention Heiskanen. You get so locked on your team during the season that I really didnt see these three play much this year. But wow those three are going to be very good.
As a Blues fan, I have to say that it will be interesting to see what the Stars do this off season. Zuc is going to be 32 this summer, and while he seems to be a very good fit in Dallas, are they going to sign him for 5+ million a year at 4 years and lose next years first for resigning him? Thats a tough pill.
Spezza and his 7.5 coming off the books is nice, but they have to do something with Nichuskin what a disappointment.
If they can move Nichuskin they will have roughly 20 million to spend this summer. Beef up that secondary scoring and see what Benn and Seguin do.
Fun series, as a Blues fan I have been on the other side of these loses way to many times.
I'm disappointed that the season has ended, but we were able to make it to game seven of the second round. That is a lot to be proud of. We have the cap space to add to our group this offseason without subtracting anything major. Enjoyed the playoffs and looking forward to the draft/UFA.
Nill is an interesting guy. He hangs on to busted RFA types too long, but he's also shown willingness to let most every UFA walk. All you have to do is compare this roster to the one from only three seasons ago. The turnover is significant. Now... some of that is because he's had to fill the roster with a lot of stopgap vets to do the jobs draft picks should have been doing.
