"As a 3-year-old idolizing his 8-year-old brother, Cal, O'Reilly had practiced this in the family kitchen of their home outside London, Ont. Take the Stanley Cup and hold it over your head. Use whatever you could. A garbage can, milk jug, whatever.
Hold it as high as you could. And O'Reilly did just that Wednesday night in TD Garden. Now 28, he was a champion just over 11 months after the Sabres kicked him to the curb because Jason Botterill went all rookie general manager on his team in the aftermath of a 62-point season by flushing what he felt was a part of a negative locker room culture."

252Still can't believe the Sabres made a scapegoat out of the only guy on the team that was bothered by losing all the time.UMSLBlues12 wrote: Fri Jun 21, 2019 6:44 am "As a 3-year-old idolizing his 8-year-old brother, Cal, O'Reilly had practiced this in the family kitchen of their home outside London, Ont. 253Which played a part in them imploding later in the season. Their lose is our gain. A Stanley Cup, Selke and Conn Smythe gain.Dave's a mess wrote: Fri Jun 21, 2019 8:01 amStill can't believe the Sabres made a scapegoat out of the only guy on the team that was bothered by losing all the time.UMSLBlues12 wrote: Fri Jun 21, 2019 6:44 am "As a 3-year-old idolizing his 8-year-old brother, Cal, O'Reilly had practiced this in the family kitchen of their home outside London, Ont. 255Happy Anniversary! It was fun re-reading the beginning of this thread. Pretty much euphoria across the board, then some very good and very bad analysis after the fact. I think Army won this trade.

Re: Confirmed: Blues Trade for ROR
256Armstrong mows down 2 GM's to the unemployment line with deals. First Hextall, then Buttercup. The question is, will another GM have the guts to make a big deal with Army? Will Army ever get the chance again?
Re: Confirmed: Blues Trade for ROR
257Well Hextall wasn’t fired because of the Schenn trade. He was let go because he wanted to do things the right way and build through the draft. Management was on board and then decided they didn’t agree with him, they wanted to add some vets to the mix. Hextall s rebuild was happening faster than anyone thought. They’ve got a really great young team with a lot of pieces still in the cupboard. Love the Flyers!BillP. wrote: Wed Jul 01, 2020 1:43 pm Armstrong mows down 2 GM's to the unemployment line with deals. First Hextall, then Buttercup. 258Yeah I thought Hextall got screwed. Thanks for all the prospects and young stars. Now call up the 20 year old goalie or you're fired!NHLTIM wrote: Wed Jul 01, 2020 2:18 pmWell Hextall wasn’t fired because of the Schenn trade. Could they still be in on a winger like Maroon? Army says it's possible, but they'd have to get creative. #stlblues
GET CREATIVE
Sundqvist can kick rocks by the way.
Re: Confirmed: Blues Trade for ROR
260Crazy that it's probably the best trade in team history and only the 2nd best move Army made last season.Dave's a mess wrote: Wed Jul 01, 2020 1:09 pm Happy Anniversary!
