Who is anyone trying to fool......NBC has hockey all of the time and the TV guys know what people want. This BS about Hockey has never been popular because of the Goonery is such a crock of shit.....Slap Shot is one of the most popular sports movies of all time.....because of the fighting......why is there MMA and Wrestling on every fucking channel if you can't sell fighting?

Hockey has never had good TV ratings because of how it is presented, and marketed.

on NHL home ice on the way home one of the guys made the point that, "back in the day", a popular broadcaster said to him, "We're either going to have to ban fighting or build bigger arenas."

game, set, match.

but yeah, remove the instigator rule and at the same time levee extreme suspensions and fines for deliberate head shots like this one. 20+ games, $250k fine. $2500 is a few pennies to these guys. make it hurt - half the minimum salary + forfeiting the 20 games salary. between that and getting their asses beaten by teams policing themselves, this bullshit, gutless play will stop.

shame on the NHL for not handling torres earlier. he did the exact same thing to a different player last year and got a slap on the wrist, and now they are surprised when he does it again? fuck you, NHL. you don't deserve to be surprised. you reap what you sew.

You read my mind, let's stop this pussification, we are not losing sponsors, if we were losing sponsors football would also be loosing sponsors for the their heavy hitting sport. lol

NEW YORK -- Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres has been suspended for 25 games for launching himself to deliver a late hit to the head of Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa during Game 3 of the teams' Western Conference Quarterfinal playoff series in Chicago on Tuesday, April 17, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

Should the 25 games not be served by the conclusion of the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the remaining games of the suspension will carry over into the following regular season. Torres will be prohibited from playing in any preseason games until he has served this 25-game suspension (playoff and regular-season games).

Should the suspension carry over to next season, because he is classified as a repeat offender under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Torres will forfeit $21,341.46 in salary for every regular-season game in which he is ineligible to play.

The incident occurred at 11:42 of the first period. Hossa suffered an injury as a result of the hit.

Torres already has served one game of this suspension, Game 4 of the series in Chicago on Thursday, April 19. For a full explanation of the decision, complete with video, please click on the following link: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/consol ... &id=173753.

He is such a piece of shit. Why do they even allow him to keep playing?
