Re: 2017 NHL FA/Trade talk

The Butler comparison seems about right. I think Prosser is Schmaltz insurance. I'm sure they're hoping Schmaltz can play his way onto the right side of the 3rd pairing ahead of Bortuzzo. If not, Prosser can sit in the pressbox while Schmaltz plays in the AHL. My money is on the latter. I may be in...

Re: Fabbri article

It'll be interesting to see Fabs at Center. Hope he doesn't feel he needs to be a playmaker when playing the position. Hopefully he'll stay just as aggressive at Center as he does playing the wing. Still not buying the excuse he was out of shape last yr and that's the reason for the slow start. The ...

True or False

You'll never see NHL teams average 3.5 to 4.0 goals per game again. NEVER! Some notes, -- Only once in the last 20 years has NHL teams averaged over 3 goals per game and that was after the strike year back in 2005. -- Teams haven't averaged over 3.5 goals per game since the 92-93 season. -- Teams h...

Re: Front office confidence rankings

The most surprising one to me is how far down Red Wings fans are on Ken Holland. 28th ranked. Wings fans are pretty much fed up with Holland. He just gave Tatar a slightly better contract than what Schwartz makes and Schwartz has the "much better" stats when matched up to Tatar. That team...

Re: Front office confidence rankings

Interesting article on front office confidence rankings. Blues are ranked #9, which I think is fair. http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/article/front-office-confidence-rankings-part-2-fans-weigh-in-on-how-each-team-is-doing Interesting to see that most teams fan bases seem to overrate their front of...

Re: Top 5

This is tough. Too many to mention like barcthespark said. 1. Garry Unger ---- remember when I was a kid playing hockey for the first time and I noticed I was playing right handed. Immediately switched to my left side because that's how Unger played, so I learned to play my hockey as a lefty. 2. Mik...

Re: 2017 NHL FA/Trade talk

Welcome! You'll find we don't take ourselves too serious around here. Just here to have some fun. :D I admit that I got too serious on an OT Political Thread. I got warned and realized the old barroom saw- two things not to get serious about are religion and politics. I have to be on guard as I am ...

Armstrong Quote on AHL situation

Anyone read JR's chat this weekend? Per Jeremy Rutherford, Armstrong said that he doesn't see it being a problem having some of our prospects floated around the AHL vying for playing time. He feels this will improve or enhance our players in that they will have to fight & play that much harder t...

Re: HOF Trades

I'd take Forsberg in a straight up trade for Lindros. However, something I noticed in Forsberg's stats when looking at them. I do not recall him at all coming back randomly at 37 to play 2 games with Colorado. This was three years after he had played his previous last NHL game. What was that about?...

Re: HOF Trades

I'd still make that deal for Lindros. Most people forget what a dominant beast of a player he was. I'd take Forsberg in a straight up trade for Lindros. However, something I noticed in Forsberg's stats when looking at them. I do not recall him at all coming back randomly at 37 to play 2 games with ...

Re: HOF Trades

Wow the package that the Flyers put together to get Lindros was unbelievable. I didn't realize that on top of that, they added $15mil... crazy trade I agree, Forsberg alone was some serious talent Philly traded away. I thought the same thing, when you look at it, Philly actually overpaid for Lindro...

Re: 2nd leading scorer

With the exit of Nail Yakupov, I'm gonna go with Magpie. This year he puts it all together, loses the last of the Edmonton stink, and sets the hockey world on its earwith a 30-30 regular season...then scores the clenching goal in the Stanley Cup Finals, and sits next to Vova in the Caddy convertibl...

HOF Trades

Article from TSN that shows 5 trades made in the last 25 years that involved HOF players. It's interesting to note that the Blues are involved in 2 of the deals and there's also 1 player in the list that was twice dealt for a future HOF player. http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/article/five-trades-f...

Re: 2nd leading scorer

I'm going to throw a curve ball and say Pietrangelo. 14 goals,48 points last year, 2nd yr in as a Captain. Strong team this year. More PP time. I think he can hit 60 plus this year. One of these years he will and I'm predicting this is the year.

Re: Bergie / Jagr / Sobie

Aside from that being one of the slowest lines in the NHL , it couldn't happen until December anyway since Berglund is injured. Jagr would be fun, but I don't think he's interested in coming to St. Louis for many reasons at this point in his career. I think the speed analogy is overplayed sometimes...

Bergie / Jagr / Sobie

It isn't going to happen but maybe by some miracle it does if Jaromir is still unemployed in September. But the prospect of an ALL-EURO line of Berglund, Sobotka and Jagr is intriguing to me. And that's your 3rd line. That gives the Blues a heck of a top 9. Anyone like this idea and does anyone thin...

Re: Pulled Muscle / Lower Back Strain

@BillP: Lots of friendly advice in this thread, but just remember ... Asking hockey fans for physical therapy advice is like asking an auto mechanic how to prepare the perfect Beef Wellington. Always seek professional advice from an APPROPRIATE professional. Good luck, and maybe you can treat yours...

Re: Pulled Muscle / Lower Back Strain

Once you recover, get into the gym and strengthen the core. I had a back injury. As I got older and stepped away from the game, I found that even little things too much lawn work would throw my back out the next morning. Once I got into the gym and started working on the core, my back problems went...

Re: 1960's Hockey

Funny, I watched about 20 minutes of a playoff game from the late 70's today and it was incredible how few plays were made. Non stop chipping the puck, and throwing it blindly towards the net. Amazing amount of mistakes with the puck (actually a very good thing for watching enjoyment) but an incred...

Re: Cap Space Decision

Tough call. If the cap stays at 3M all year, my only concern is what can the Blues really do with that at the trade deadline in terms of bolstering the team? Is that enough? Almost assuredly to make a big deadline deal will require moving someone like Gunnarson for a draft pick. Then the team will h...
