Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

I hope if Maroon leaves its Kyrou who wins a job playing with Bozak on the third line. Bozak seems like a good center for a kid to break into the line-up with. Depending on how Thomas progresses, and if he's ready to play C, things could get interesting. Schwartz-O'Reilly-Tarasenko Schenn-Thomas-Pe...

BillP. wrote: Sun Jun 16, 2019 11:10 pm So what opposing team do you want to play in the home opener next year? What team do you want standing there as the Blues get their rings and celebrate their championship?

I say let it be the Hawks.
Hawks, Preds, or Avs. In that order.

Re: 2019 Offseason signings, trades, news thread

What do you guys think about a Edmundson for Tyler Toffoli deal? Kings could use some help on the left side of their D and Toffoli is coming off his worst season since his rookie year....he's also a UFA after next season. I like the idea, just not sure where he fits. Something like Perron-O'Reilly-...

Re: Blues' Prospects Discussion

Love that Toropchenko is getting this playoff experience and doing so well along the way. Don't know how he'll turn out, but this can only help (see Thomas this year after his Memorial Cup run). Also, I know there is still a lot going on with the big club, but anyone else want to post their top 5 wh...

Re: Stanley Cup Final Matchup Thread (pre-series discussion): BLUES vs. BRUINS

I think this will come down to depth vs. stars. The Blues have the edge in overall depth I believe (I know Boston's 4th line has been getting pub as well, but still), but Boston's stars are better. This has essentially been the case with the last 3 opponents though, so I think we have got a great ch...

Re: Blues' Prospects Discussion

Given everything that has happened this year (several disappointing campaigns), how would you currently rank our prospects (Top 5)? Mine are below. Note: I am biased toward likeliness of NHL career (even in lesser roles) over perceived upside. 1. Kyrou 2. Bokk 3. Reinke 4. Perunovich 5. Mikkola/Toro...

Re: Stevie Y returns home

Not surprised at all that Yzerman took this job, but still a little surprised that he left Tampa after spending almost a decade making them into a contender. Leaving a winner in warm and sunny Florida to join a cellar dweller in cold and snowy Michigan, he must reallllllllly love that organization....

Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

I agree with ratonomono. Something like this seems likely (and I would be okay with it assuming we can't move Steen). Schenn O'Reilly Tarasenko Perron Thomas Sundqvist Schwartz Bozak Kyrou Steen Barbashev Blais Sanford & MacMac (or cheap vet like an Upshall) I would bring Bouw back if we can get...

Re: Kostin

I still just don't get how he can be so bad there. Kyrou tore it up with the same team (albeit with probably better assignments) and Kostin has been outproduced by guys way below his talent level. I agree that he might be one of those where his skill set (and motor) translates better to the NHL, but...

Re: Kostin

He's been really good against his peers, but terrible in the AHL. I hope he sticks around for at least another year to see if he can pick up his game as he ages.

Kostin

After reading through the Reinke thread, I went to the Rampage website to look up stats. It looks like Kostin is having a disaster of a year (at least on paper). I know the Rampage are terrible, but he's only got 21 points in 56 games and is a -27 (bad even for SA this year). He's being outscored by...

Re: Dreger: Blues interested in North Bay’s Justin Brazeau

Bill, while we could definitely strengthen the pipeline further, I think it's actually on D where we need more help. We have several young forwards who can contribute in various roles and are (or near) NHL-ready, including Thomas, Kyrou, Blais, Kostin, Mac Mac, Sanford. Plus, someone like Bokk who i...

Re: Colton Parayko is 6'6 230 pounds

While he has definitely not broken out with us, I feel like he would probably flourish in a different system. He tends to play well in international tournaments which are less physical and more uptempo. Imagine what he would do with a team like Pittsburgh or Toronto or (gasp) Chicago?

Re: Doug Armstrong interview with ESPN

I read that differently. Doug notes that they’ve drafted multiple pieces and they were not going to trade *multiple pieces*. So when they were able to remove a piece and replace it with a 1st round pick they agreed on a deal. It wasn’t Kyrou over Thompson, it was likely they asked for both and Doug...

Doug Glatt wrote:Bill Armstrong will be a GM someday, somewhere.
I did like how persuasive he was to DA about moving up. Seems like he has that commitment to pull the trigger. We could use more of that at the pro-level.

Re: Thomas and Fabbri

I am in the camp that it doesn't make much sense to put Thomas on the 3rd line (unless there are upgrades). The good part with Thomas is that he is eligible for the 9-game tryout. We can use camp and the tryout to see if he is ready to handle (sheltered) scoring line minutes before making a decision...
