Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

Controversial opinion, but based on stats: If they're choosing Backes over O'Reilly because ROR has only played one season with the Blues, then Binnington should be off the list as well. To replace him, I suggest... Brian Elliott. While I see your point and agree to an extent, Backes and Elliott ar...

But, DP has played RW the majority of his 2nd and 3rd stints with us. So that might work against considering him as a LW.
Not in my book and it's the Gospel.
Wait...does that mean Perron never existed!?!?!?
Oh look, a rabbit hole. *walks away*

Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

It's got to be Steen on LW but the most memorable Blue on the left side of the decade was Perron. From the time he was drafted, his white skates and constantly trading him and bringing him back, then to Stanley Cup champion...What a ride. Re: MLS to St Louis

T.C, I think you greatly underestimate St Louis' interest in Soccer. This city immediately sells up 30-40k events at Busch stadium. I have zero doubt in that soccer stadium, their attendance will be on par with the Blues. I have not followed MLS at all, I've been a Barca fan my entire soccer fan lif...

It's official. https://www.stltoday.com/sports/soccer/st-louis-wins-a-major-league-soccer-expansion-team/article_22a84fbd-8440-56d3-b0f4-2a7870fc397a.html Major League Soccer plans to announce next week that St. Louis has secured an expansion team, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the...

Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

Honestly if anyone is going to be the next Maroon I think its Sanford...something about him changed during the playoffs while he was sitting most of the time. If he can play like he did during the final consistently he's going to be a pretty good middle-6 winger. Sanford had a really nice hit right...

Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

This team would've won with Chad Johnson as the backup in the playoffs. THERE I SAID IT They would of won with me as the backup for crying out loud. We do NOT make the playoffs with Chad Johnson, or BillyP :), as the backup of the Blues. Binnington and others and the coaches all talked about how im...

Pretty sure the puck would've been incapacitated if it ran into Chief.

Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

If "we don't win the Cup without Maroon' is going to be taken as gospel around here, than we could say the same thing about the whole team. exactly correct. thanks for getting on board. the team butterfly effected its way to a Cup. everyone is of significance. the contributions of those who di...

Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

Long rant: That's silly. There are sooo many reasons the Blues won the Cup, and IMHO, I'd say that Maroon's importance was of no more significant than Allen's. Without Allen's play as Binnington's backup and the mentorship and support he gave to JB50, the Blues don't make the playoffs, much less ma...

Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

Lose Jake, Steen, Fabbri and Jed...Offer sheet Marner to the max. LGB!!! Better yet, trade those guys to EDM for McDavid. It's foolproof! :dancingbanana: Sorry Mook... If the Blue had McDavid, he'd get hit by a bus walking across the street and then a piano would fall from the sky and land on him.....

Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

So, let's say they did that; what's your take for these two questions: 1.Who is your backup? 2. How many games do you want Binnington to start during the regular season, with hopes that he can also handle 20+ more games in the playoffs two years in a row? I think those have to be answered before we...

Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

I think the lack of options for trustworthy backups outside the organization played a huge role in that decision. Best case scenario this year is for Husso to return to form and press the issue. Jake makes too much bread to be a backup here ... CBJ needs a goalie, and they have the tons of cap spac...

Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

Back on goalies: I personally expect that Jake plays out the remainder of his deal here, Husso is dealt at some point, and either another backup is brought in in two years or one of the Fitzpatrick/Ellis kids is ready for that role. I still don't understand the idea of keeping Allen as the back-up....

Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

NHL Network's list? Probably not. I think he was in the honorable mentions maybe 18-20 range in the past few years. Honestly I'd drop Stamkos and Point both waaay down the list from where they are now that I think about it. I love lists and since absolutely no one asked, here's my top 20 going into...

Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

I wonder if Maroon's agent has been told by DA that the Blues are working on a trade to try and free up cap space?

Otherwise, I can't figure out why Maroon would be taking so long to sign a contract with another team unless he has some hope of still returning.

Re: 2019-2020 St. Louis Blues

This could all be solved by trading Jake Allen. Louis Domingue is available, he's always interested me despite catching wrong-handed. Cap space and draft picks is all I’d want to get out of Jake. Yup. In a perfect hockey world the Blues could afford Jake as a backup. But this is a salary cap hockey...
