Re: Pietrangelo

I don't really think his playing is so much better as to be 'another level,' I just think that, without Shattenkirk or Bouwmeester, and under Yeo's system instead of Hitchcock's, he's got more opportunity. Agreed. Although I would say his shot has looked improved, his slapper seems better and he's ...

I always kind of shook my head when people were saying the past two years that he was only our...

Re: Final roster set

I think Megan's just insurance against Sundqvist's status after taking a blocking a couple of wicked shots the other day. I don't think he's expected to play.

Re: Analysis

Just my opinion, the second line is more the problem. Stastny, steen, etc is the main issue. Luckily stastny will be gone next year. Unfortunately we have 4 more years of Steen. That Steen contract will be an albatross close to Lehtera in a year. Unfortunately, the blues pipeline is still a year+ awa...

Re: Analysis

Backes is hurt. Brouwer is awful now. Fabbri will hopefully come back and still reach his full potential, but I'm not holding my breath. I think Fabbri, Steen, and Berglund all being here from the get go would have had a much better lineup. Barbashev not living up to his billing from last year also...

Re: Analysis

I think early on, we were giving up a LOT of breakaways and odd-man rushes against while we were focusing on offense, but able to recover from it, either due to goaltending, or limiting mistakes. I think our system now is a high risk-high reward system, and the limitations of it may be showing up. W...

Analysis

Given the performance of the last three games, do you think it's a matter of not executing the system that was working anymore, or have other teams come up with ways to adapt to the Blues' system and find the flaws in it?

Re: Third line

Well, if we had a healthy Fabbri, Sanford, and Berglund, then Fabbri and/or Berglund may play up to the 2nd line, knocking Sobotka and/or Steen down, we probably don't sign Upshall, then we mix and match Brodziak, MPS, Jaskin, Sundqvist, Thorburn, Bennett on the 4th line and/or as fill ins, even if ...

Re: Hitchcock v. Yeo

As much as I don't think you can attribute the Blues' success so far to just one thing, I think the change in coaching philosophies has to be a part of it. Hitch wasn't as offense-averse as many people think, but I don't think he'd have the entire defense, and every defenseman, this active in the of...

Re: Shipachyov

At the very least, his contract was a safety cushion to make sure they'd hit the minimum total salary requirement for the expansion draft (60% of last season's salary cap). NOT including Shipachyov's $4.5 mil cap hit, Vegas looks like they've got almost $20 mil in players on the IR, at least one of ...

BillP wrote:Arizona gets their first win of year. Took 12 games. At this pace they'll end season with about 20 points :)
They were up by 2 with a minute left in the 3rd and Philly tied it up to send it to OT. That was just MEAN!

Re: Blais and Barbashev sent down

Bennett sucks....good lord. Our bottom 6 is so focking bad. I'd have to think Sanford would have made a decent 3rd liner (Better than what we've got now, at least), ditto with Berglund. And with Fabbri filling out the 2nd line instead of "Jaskin/Paajarvi/Kid who isn't ready yet," we'd be ...
