Re: Expansion and the fallout from it

Actually, they're going to enlist the NHLPA's assistance in determining which teams are in which division, in a move inspired by adding the shootout to overtime. The entire membership will vote on two players per team to enter a skills competition. The skill: Ice Dancing! I'm thinking Bortuzzo and R...

Re: Conspicuous in it's absense

It's a 'have your cake and eat it, too' scenario. If he has a poor season, or is injured, he's MUCH less likely to get any high offers next Summer, especially at 32 years old, but then, he's not helping us much now either. If he has a great season, he's helping the team more NOW, but more likely to ...

Re: 4th line

Part of the reason for a 4th line is to have specialists to play certain roles, like the PK or 'shut down' roles, so your more skilled players can save their strength and stamina for scoring situations. The last two seasons, Chicago's top PK forwards were Marcus Kruger and Ben Smith (this season) an...

Re: Oshie traded to Caps

I would certainly be interested in seeing a Jaskin-Stastny-Brouwer line! Brouwer strikes me as more of a 'complimentary' player with physicality and OK skill that could certainly work well in that situation. I'm not convinced that Troy's NOT our 3rd line center. Washington played him a lot in the p...

Re: Mike Richards terminated

They still have Slava Voynov's contract on their books, I believe, and even tried to circumvent his league suspension, which they got fined a small amount for. Even if he is found guilty, they'll probably still keep his contract as long as they think he might return and still be a good hockey player...

Re: Offseason Overhaul

It depends on what you mean by #1 defenseman. Technically, there are 30 #1 defensemen in the league, one on each team, and I'd actually take Petro over MANY of those. If you mean a #1 defenseman on a Stanley Cup winning team, you're only talking about a handful of players over almost the last decad...

Re: Offseason Overhaul

Honestly, I DON'T want to see a major overhaul, and the reigns handed to the young guys right away. I think part of the problem of the old corps not 'raising their game' is that top-6 roles were pretty much just handed to guys like Oshie, Berglund, even Backes to an extent. They never had to dig dee...

Re: Thanks for nothing Erik Johnson

I remember many fans, especially on that OTHER board, wanting to draft ANY kind of defenseman to bump Eric Brewer off of the top pairing. We'd already tried the route of over-paying for the likes of Jay McKee. IMHO, it's always been easier to sign an impact forward as a free agent than an impact def...

Re: Gaming

Have they made a game as good (plot, characters, etc) as the original "Deus Ex" yet?

Re: Hunger Games....

I KINDA want to read it, but I'm afraid I'll constantly be comparing it to Battle Royale (The manga, not the movie), which I think would be unfair of me.

Re: 2 SHOCKING stats!

The bad news is Hitch has failed in the playoffs since his Cup win in Dallas 16 years ago. And that team had Hull and Modano which makes it a hell of a lot easier to coach! He failed in Philly, Columbus, & so far here. I'm guessing you meant to imply that he had a lot more established talent to...

Re: Barbashev tearing up the Q playoffs

Those stats are impressive in any league in a playoff environment. His scoring may not translate at the NHL level , but he will pretty much hit everything that moves and will certainly be a fan favorite just a few years down the road. From what I've heard, the general rule is that if you're a big s...
