Czechs had PP to close out 2nd period and they had good pressure but could not score. USA still up

Zegras with an Auston Matthews spinorama cross ice pass to Drury for that goal. Unlike the Matthews feed, this one was up close.

Samuelsson called for a trip. Announcer said in NHL it's a good play. Says this is the softest called tournament he's seen yet.

Sounds like in the first 10 minutes USA had the better play. Caufield hit the post. Pinto did score on PP as BlueinNY reported. SOG for period were in favor of USA 17-9, so USA must of really looked good in first 10. Final 9 minutes, not so hot.

1st period comes to a close. Pinto stole puck and created a shot attempt in final 10 seconds but went wide. Czechs up 2-1 after 1 period.

Czechs taking turns just taking one timers from both sides of ice. Finally capped off with Zabransky putting it home on a cross ice close in. USA had no answer for the 5 on 3.

USA on PP but they failed to sustain puck in offensive zone throughout PP. After PP expired, Ziegres had a golden chance to convert a cross ice goal line pass but didn't get good wood on it.

I believe Week 1 is the only 'two week' during the season, due to staggered starts and overseas games.
