Re: Confirmed: Blues Trade for ROR

fantastic. i don't know how you can judge army on what happens in the post season. like the president's trophy winning blues in 1999-2000 getting swept in the first round - was that a poorly-assembled team? if the Cup was won on paper, we wouldn't need to play the games, and we certainly wouldn't h...

Re: Confirmed: Blues Trade for ROR

I didn't care for the way they handled Thompson at all last year but I also realize he was given opportunities and didn't take advantage of them. Hope things work out for him in Buffalo but I hated that pick at the time....always thought it was a wasted pick. Hopefully the coaching staff learned a ...

Re: Confirmed: Blues Trade for ROR

Not related to Tage Thompson sass, but I like this quote from Pierre Lebrun in his new article on The Athletic: From the Blues’ perspective, there’s a handful of GMs in this league that are unafraid to make bold move after bold move: I’d put Armstrong in that group along with Doug Wilson (Sharks), ...

Re: Confirmed: Blues Trade for ROR

Thoughts after all of this: 1. We're set at forward. If anything, we might still have too many bodies. You can mix and match the top-9 all you want, but now your 4th line is probably something like Jaskin-Barbashev-Thorburn. Blech. (Especially given talk about Thomas centering ROR - and let's be hon...

Re: NHL Draft Weekend

wtf is this exceptional player status? They explained it nicely on the TV. Basically, you apply saying that your skills are such that you're good enough to play in the juniors at age 15, and the league agrees. It's a high bar to clear; they said Veleno was just the 5th guy to get approved since it ...

Re: NHL Draft Weekend

I think it's safe to say that Joe Veleno is falling down the draft board. Serron Noel is now in that boat as well, but that one I'm not surprised about.

Re: NHL Draft Weekend

Guy's going to need time. Also will help if he, ... I dunno, plays at levels higher than J20. Sounds like a long term project, like Kostin. Agreed, and yet as much as Kostin struggled to adjust to the NA sheet of ice this year, some people still wanted to throw him on the NHL roster into a top-6 sp...

Nope....if we stay at 29...take Merkley and hope for the best.
Apparently San Jose liked that idea.

If Veleno stays on the board another pick or two, I start calling up and offering #29 and a forward prospect along the lines of Blais, Sanford, etc.

Re: NHL Draft Weekend

Odds the Blue Jackets take a Euro here....Bokk? Kupari, lundestrom? The last time they took a European player in the 1st round was 2013, when they had 3 1st-round picks and took Wennberg at 14, Rychel at 19, and Dano at 27. Wennberg is still with the team. Rychel was a busted pick, but got flipped ...

Re: NHL Draft Weekend

Bennett for the #29....lets do it God no. Not for what Bennett has [not] shown to date. Change of scenery plus he's got some sandpaper to his game Just give something like Barbashev straight up; swap guys who've allegedly got potential and haven't shown it and might benefit from a change of scenery...

Everyone's talking about ROR. I'll pee myself if it ends up being something like Jake McCabe, #32 and #187 for Sammy Blais and #29.
